Wycombe chairman told Wycombe fans at a meeting last week that a decision whould be made early this week by the FA. This could still happen of course but Rovers have recieved communication from the FA today explaining they are still investigating Rovers complaints.

On the OS now...

Bristol Rovers have today received a letter from the FA confirming that their Governance department is undertaking an investigation into whether or not Wycombe Wanderers breached the rules surrounding third party ownership.

This investigation is currently ongoing and any decision on whether disciplinary action will be taken, will be given in due course.

No time frame has been given as to when a decision will be reached.

Coventry were given until 31st May to pay Ricoh Arena operators ACL £590,000 towards its unpaid rent bill. The payment was a condition of the membership agreement which allows the club to continue to compete in the Football League. So in other words they would be kicked out of the Football League if they didnt pay this.

However, Coventry came out and said there is some uncertainty as to the correct amount owed and were waiting confirmation. Heard nothing since until yesterday which was that the case has gone to court which took place yesterday and that the judge will make a decision on 30th June and apparently from what I have read that it doesnt look good for Coventry <ok>

I read the Wycombe Trust forum chat. They say that no other players are involved other that the one for which they have already been fined.

I can't believe that the FA or FL would even consider changing a decision they have already made. Nor can I believe the Rover's Board would even question it. If the FA are still investigating the affair, then there must be more to the dispute than we have been given information about.

All of the comments written in the Buckspress seem to be mere speculation and hold no more weight than any one else's point of view.

That's my opinion anyway.
 
I'm doing my best to ignore this entire affair. It's an unwanted distraction from the important work of building a team to get back into the football league.

There's not a cat-in-hell's chance we're going get a reprieve and we just don't deserve one. From the stuff I've read I cannot understand how a case can be made that Wycombe had an unfair advantage over us last season. Either there's a whole heap of evidence that we don't know about - unlikely - or we are just throwing good money after bad.

I will put my hand up if I'm wrong, but I think this whole thing is a waste of time. The board should be concentrating on three things:

1, Sorting their sorry arses out with their dopey internal review/navel gazing exercise and coming up with who is culpable for the mess we find ourselves in and what they're going to do to dig us out of it. And then communicating that to the fans.

2, Getting the club promoted next season.

3, Getting that stadium built.

They can't run a football club as it is, so I don't know why they're poncing about with futile legal shenanigans.

at last?? think we all been saying the same thing really since this came out. not 1 gashead on here has their hopes up and i still dont think any of us clearly know the full ins and outs of our boards complaint. the fact that the FA are still investigating instead of simply dismissing the case is interesting though.
 
Surely even if Wycombe were found guilty in some way the fact that they have already been punished would give them leave to appeal.. it seems to me the there isn't even the time to deal with this to the outcome you may want..

It will be a fine or next season points deduction at best..

And Coventry are going nowhere..

i think both salisbury and hereford are good examples to show that punishment starts now to a team and not starting for next season. their examples show 2 relegated teams get reinstated.

however the more i think about this whole situation the more i think our board know full well that they wont win but are going for compensation payouts.
 
I honestly think your board are just muddying the water so the fans will think 'ok perhaps we have been hard done by' at least the board are fighting as hard as they can to do something..

Smoke and mirrors for me, if they can now afford the legal fees, why didn't they buy a striker.?

WTF is happening with this ? How long does it take to unravel such deeds especially as I see on the WW board on N606 that some bloody agent has had his appeal sorted and his punishment reduced to a mere 7 weeks ban and a smaller fine. Does not bode well for Rovers me thinks but in all honesty The Board were Pissi&g In The Wind. Anything to divert attention away from the real issues.

the FA are looking for a way out without conceding that they done wrong. they are trying to figure out away to avoid a paying anything out like a compensation.

That Agent Phil Smith is the one who ran to Rovers with all these ridiculous claims,he gambled with our ex owner before the trust was formed and lost and he's a very bitter man.

If it was as straight forward as that it would have been resolved in a moment. I think CJS is right. The powers that be don't like admitting they are in the wrong. So its probably a case of coming to a compromise solution which doesn't embarrass them.
 
breaking the rules and only getting a £10k fine when 'apparently' the agent has evidence that 'apparently' should see a points deduction to wycombe. if the FA thought it was the agent being bitter then rovers complaint would have been chucked out straight away. its gone on for so long! remember the wycombe chairman saying a decision was going to be made the following week after his meeting with the FA. well 4 weeks later (however long it is) and still no decision. the FA obviously can see they cocked up and didnt take the agents claims seriously when the agent 1st informed the FA and now they dont know what to do about rovers complaint. they screwed up. for how long its gone on, i cant see how rovers wont get something from the FA.
