Does nuturing still exist in todays game?...or is it just a rich mans play thing for bragging rights in the boardroom amongst business associates once bored with the yachts etc and have nothing else to waste money on?.
Congrats' CTWD. Would be great if we raise the roof at 19.04 on Saturday, even us prawn sandwich munchers in the West Stand. It will be very interesting to see what Mr Allam does next.
http://www.thefa.com/news/governance/2014/mar/fa-statement-on-proposed-hull-city-name-change The FA can confirm its Membership Committee met on Wednesday [12 March] and has made a unanimous recommendation to The FA Council to reject Hull Cityâs request to change their playing name to Hull Tigers from next season. The recommendation, which came after consultation with stakeholders within and outside of the game, will be discussed and voted upon at a full FA Council meeting on 9 April 2014. Hull City are able to make a further submission to The FA Council in view of the written reasons, which they have received, before the 9 April meeting. A final decision will be made at that meeting. As such, The FA will be making no further comment at this time. Read more at http://www.thefa.com/news/governanc...sed-hull-city-name-change#3hAQugsLC531UISr.99 so its down to the pass holder vote ... vote wisely .. and hope the jonny come latelys do to I will say well done CTWD on their campaign ... you have fought and I will admit I was wrong thinking the FA was all about money etc ... a pat on the back to all of you .. I mean it
I'd be ecstatic if they found a way to draw a line under it and carry on taking the club forwards. I hope thats with Ehab at the helm. As much as I admire Dr Assem, I think Ehab could be a better long term appointment and face of the club ownership. That would be win-win for us all. Except whatever happens, the haters are gonna hate sadly.
agree ... they do not realise we were not "pro" name change .. we simply didn't care and trusted the owners ... but like you say haters gotta hate
You get a straight answer to a question and you...make a snidey comment. Brilliant. The only thing I dislike is the way CTWD and some of its members conduct themselves. Hate is too strong a word for my feelings towards them. Distrust. Dislike. Better words for them. Their actions and posts on here are displaying hate towards our owners, and to a large chunk of other fans. If you think thats acceptable, good for you, I clearly have higher personal standards than you.
I was waiting for the "why do they get a second chance and CTWD don't?" comments to come out or maybe you think its a done deal ... will reiterate .. well done CTWD so far ... *its not over yet*
Well, you would know. It cannot be escaped that you’ve probably been the most spiteful poster on the forum with regards to the name change. You seemed pleased at the idea of some people not attending anymore because of it, mocking them, saying they weren’t needed. You echoed the abuse from the regime, backing it up wherever possible. You’ve hurled numerous malicious accusations at CTWD and their intent; even at some of their publicly known members, whilst cosily remaining anonymous. You’ve attacked and belittled people for unifying for a common cause. Essentially, you are a hate filled individual.
It wasn't a snidey comment, it was an observation just as I posted. Just as some of the anti name change/CTWD posters come across as AA haters, you sometimes come across as a CTWD hater. That's why I posted what I did. The original question was genuine, I wanted to know whether someone who has supported AA thinks its time to draw a line. It was you who suggested those who have spouted hate on the forum would carry it on.
Would thre be anything to stop AA from having HULL, with "city" written small in the crossbar of the H, TIGERS next to it with "the" small in the crossbar of the T. The world audience would see HULL TIGERS, but AA could say he listend to the fans and did not change the name, would he have won or lost if going this way ?
so why do they get a second chance .. and CTWD don't ? as I reiterated twice now .. CTWD have done well so far but need to question why another meeting has been granted by the FA
http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/mar/17/fa-set-reject-hull-city-owner-change-tigers The Football Association looks set to reject the application by the Hull City owner, Assem Allam, to change the club's name to Hull Tigers, after the FA's membership committee unanimously voted against it. In response Allam reiterated that he would "walk away" from the club if the full FA council follows the committee's recommendation at its meeting on 9 April. Allam, a local businessman who bought the club in 2010, clarified that he meant he would put the club up for sale, not seek immediately to recover his £72m loans and cause the club financial difficulties. "How could you imagine I would change my mind?" he said of his promise to walk away. "People who know me know that I do not go back on what I say." The FA confirmed that its membership committee, at a meeting last Wednesday, "made a unanimous recommendation to the FA council to reject Hull City's request to change their playing name to Hull Tigers from next season". The committee is understood to have decided that Allam and his son Ehab, who works with his father at their industrial generators' business and as the football club's vice-chairman, had not adequately made a case for the name change. The Allams argued that playing as Hull Tigers, dropping the name City because it is shared with other clubs and therefore "common", would deliver a major commercial boost in global marketing. They were opposed by an alliance of supporters' groups under the campaign name City Till We Die, who argued that the club's name since 1904 is an integral part of its heritage and character and that there was no research to back the idea that "Tigers" would provide a commercial advantage. Talking to the Guardian in November, Assem Allam acknowledged he had not conducted research to support the plan for a name change. Any change of a club's playing name has to be approved by the FA, which accepts the importance of tradition and requires reasons to be soundly argued. The FA's membership committee formed a three-man subcommittee to consult widely across football and hear the submissions from the Allams and City Till We Die. The fans' campaign produced a video and 21-page submission, arguing that the Hull City AFC name had been "hard fought for" and the club could achieve much more commercially under its current name. "This is a pivotal moment for English football," the submission said. "The FA decision-makers can become the heroes that protected the national game. Or they can usher in a new era where money and ego matter more than anything else." The FA's subcommittee is understood to have found that the Allams had not justified the name change on commercial grounds or to have consulted adequately with supporters. The subcommittee's recommendation to reject the name change proposal was then approved unanimously by the full membership committee, which is chaired by Philip Smith of the Kent FA, and includes Jez Moxey, chief executive of Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Malcolm Clarke, chief executive of the Football Supporters' Federation. Allam told the Guardian he now intends to ballot City's 17,900 season-ticket holders – he said it would have made no difference to have done so before the FA committee considered the issue – and hopes the FA council will sanction the name change. "We will announce a ballot this week," he said, "and we will challenge the decision. If the FA does not allow our plan, we will walk away, put it on the market to sell the club. We would not put it into liquidation; there is a lot of money at stake. I will get my money when I sell." Ian Waterson, a spokesman for City Till We Die, welcomed the FA committee's decision and thanked the "overwhelming" support for the campaign. "The FA committee has recognised our heritage and history as Hull City AFC and the views of supporters, and the wider implications this decision has for other clubs," said Waterson. "We trust the FA council will listen to its committee's recommendation and reject the application."
Whilst this is great news......I don't think it's all over yet... I think AA is playing the only card he has left......try his hardest to discredit CTWD and their "voice of the fans" I think he genuinely believes (wrongly) that the majority of fans would support him, and by balloting, I think he is hoping to present evidence to the FA that he has the backing of the fans and that they should indeed support his name change based on new evidence and not just what they have seen so far! I hope I'm wrong and the results of a ballot show that he is still wrong.......fingers crossed!!
but your missing the point they (hull city) have another submission to make yet .. no one else can ... or did you miss that part ?
He can write whatever he wants hence why the website and most communication with fans in recent times has had the 'Hull Tigers' or 'Hull City Tigers' name tag. He will not be allowed to officially change our name so officially we are recognised as Hull City A.F.C and if we win anything it will be 'Hull City' or 'Hull City A.F.C' engraved on the trophy. Media would not follow his instructions to write in in a certain way so they would still write Hull City. I'm guessing he will keep the website and everything the same and try to keep deluding himself that he is still in the right.
