"Until we know the outcome it is business as usual. Because we genuinely believe there is a silent majority." "Always been our intention to ballot the fans" "It was always on our minds to ballot, but there was no need to initially. One thing we did not want to disturb was the season. Timing is important." You couldn't make it up, what a load of ****. Especially that final quote about 'timing'.
This name change situation really does not make much sense, and I can only think that their insistence in getting the name changed is to do with selling the club, not getting sponsorship increased. The sponsorship only usually brings in a million or two as year, which in the scheme of things is peanuts and isn't going to create the extra revenue they claim will happen. The Allams have said that they have no more money to lend the club, so even in the unlikely event that they can get the FA decision over turned, then they still say they cannot continue to fund the club. So as far as I see if this threat to sell up, is only what they plan to do anyway, and they just feel Hull Tigers will sell at a better price than Hull City AFC.
When this was first broached as the names started to be changed, wasn't the Allam's response that nothing at all was changing?
Being "pointless" doesn't seem a good reason to "veto" or "boycott". It would have to be that the possible decisions weren't sensible. Surely the only ballot should be the same as the OSC question: something like (a) change playing name to "Hull Tigers" or (b) retain present name.
We're discussing all eventualities, but we won't make a decision on anything until we know what the question is and how the voting is to be conducted.
I notice that in the HDM, it said that pass holders will be able to visit the KC to vote. I hope that we are able to vote this coming match day, or that there is a postal or proxy vote allowed. As a season pass holder who lives 250 miles away it's a bloody long round trip on a non match day to vote. Initially I didn't want them to go, but having constantly read all the crap they spout, I seriously do not want our club to be owned and run by these people. If it's a vote of No Confidence in them, I'm afraid I have none. Hull City takes precedence over confidence in them.
Are you going out of your way to be an arsehole or making a special effort for me. I have no idea who you are, nor did I have any idea you were connected to CTWD; have I missed something? I drew a thought from your style of response and that thought proved to be correct; not great detective work, simply assessing the conversation correctly - you really should try it. Thankfully your colleagues make more responsible posts than you, so I'll pay more attention to them.
Is it still not possible to market Hull City as Hull Tigers in the East? Spaghetti Bolognese - no one has ever heard of it in Italy, let alone Bologna Fosters - does anyone in Australia drink that stuff? Suomi - that is what the Finns call their country and their language. Hull Tigers in Singapore - Hull City in England
Thanks for that. It does seem that this has evolved from a name-change issue (always a red-herring), to an 'us and them' issue (which it always was, in reality) and now it seems to be a vote of confidence in the owners. Can anyone who is fighting against the name-change honestly say they have confidence in the owners?
I've got no confidence in the owners at all now , they just keeping making things worse , I only objected to the name change initially
It could always be worse....http://newsthump.com/2014/03/19/hull-city-chairman-assem-allam-to-rename-club-the-fa-bums-dogs-fc/
Hull Kangaroos in Australia! I dont know what the point is. My step daughter had a foreign surname and she wasn't getting interviews when she was in her last year at university so she changed her name to Saxton and got two job offers in a week or so! Now that is a sensible change.
I have considered it, but decided that discussing it (on here) with officials of CTWD, and others, is the better course to follow, as I joined CTWD so there could be one unified voice. I ask questions, I don't attack or insult, so those questions can be answered, used to bolster a position or used to adjust strategy. Of course, they can also be ignored.
There's no "Hull" in that. thinks So it should be a more popular brand! What about "UK Puddings"? Or even World Puddings?
Ehab's comment abuot them changing the rules is ridiculous. Firstly they didn't change the rule at all because it was left at their absolute discretion what to do so no change was required in order to consult with fan groups. But secondly if his argument is that CTWD shouldn't have been allowed to make their case then he's basically admitting they haven't got a leg to stand on, they never did and that CTWD's argument was far better than their own. He's bemoaning that we were allowed to present an alternative case and got the same chance they did. Their whole argument is that they should be allowed to do what they want regardless of logic and reasoning for doing so. What a pair of ****ing tyrants. Get out of my club.
I think it would be madness to think they (the Allam family) are clueless; they took a wrong turn on the name-change and are in recovery-mode. Their Fewins interview in the HDM is classic recovery mode tactic; throw in a vote of confidence to a threatened and vulnerable electorate, construct the reason to stay and then start your reviewed strategy. I would guess they will get their vote of confidence comfortably; such is the way of PL/football supporters and their fear of tumbling down the rankings. Folk will vote for the devil they know; and, to be fair, that is exactly what CTWD has advised them throughout. They have tested the water and will now reassess their long term strategy. No way have they any intention of selling.
