That's because the FA need every penny they can get after selling the golden goose.

And put this in your pipe:

we could also learn a lot from the grunters at Bramall Lane, currently on their way back to the PL with a low budget, a passionate local fanboy as manager, and a fanbase who embrace what the club is: raucous, cocky but not arrogant, and loud.

I hate giving any form of praise to this ****house of a club, but it has always struck me as a place where from the chairman down to the ballboys, everyone is on the same page, all working together to thwart the visitors.

A club and fanbase who who knows what it is....and what it isn't.

Now compare us to either Millwall of Sheffield United: a remote or absent owner, no sense of any identity or pride in the city or region, no warmth or passion, no attempt to make our ground an unwelcoming fortress (it's more like a council leisure facility) or reinforce what makes the club special to its fans

So yeah..both Millwall and the oinkers are streets ahead of us, unfortunately.

I know both Blunts and Fowls fans who have moved over here. They both bemoan how their Kop ends have altered with many remaining resolutely seated. One pointed out on a post on the Wednesday forum where one of them was saying what wonderful away support they had. Another replied that numbers didn't equate to support if it wasn't getting behind them. Which apparently they don't do as much as they used to. One Blunts fan said he had moved from the Shoreham End to the side as if he was going to sit amongst a load of people remaining still he may as well get a better view. A bit of time for the Wednesday one as when a fan of TWS was going on about our poor turn out at the play off he said numbers don't win matches and Wednesday were lucky as they got played off the park.

It's a shame so many people react in a soundbite way to the mention of certain clubs.

Most of us are guilty at one time or another (myself excluded of course).

I think the mould was made during the Harold Needler era: aloof, take it or leave it, suburban and no passion please.

The Allams reign has unwittingly revived that, with a return to passive semi-neutral 'supporting'.

When the ITV highlights of our Cup Final cut to the ads at half time they had the previous years finalists in their banner. MC v Wigan.
