Well, I couldn't imagine people coming out with those sorts of comments on the forums of Sunderland, Newcastle, Portsmouth...Which is why they are football cities with a stronger fanbase.

The attitude for our FA Cup semifinal was disheartening
I was at a funeral 3 or 4 years ago talking to Ulrika Peece it was for a lad we had done at City since the late 1960s. Someone ther said it wouldn't matter if City went out of business as there were plenty of other teams to support. I said the same to him about you wouldn't get people coming out with crap like that in Newcastle, Sunderland etc...and people with his attitude were why City would never be like them as regards support. I was in two minds about getting into a heated debate at a funeral but then thought he would have been just as irate, if not more so, himself.
BTW, the Bristol Rovers game where you were a ball boy...Was that the one where their fans came over the pitch at the end to celebrate as the result meant there was good chance they would stop up? The lad whose funeral it was was the one who jumped out of the Well, grabbed a bucket of water from the dugout and drenched the first few telling them that would cool them down.

Yeah it's probably got nothing to do with the fact that historically they've been far more competitive and more successful than we have. It's definitely the attitude of people like me who have decided that their family should come first and not the build up of successes those clubs have had to attract more fans. Definitely not.
I couldn't go to the semi final because I was working and couldn't get the time off in the end, I had to give the ticket to my friend, but I went to the final.
The thing for me and Wembley is, it's an expensive day out, it's a long way to travel and getting there is seemingly a nightmare unless you shell out for an overpriced hotel.
The one year Hull City took the FA Cup seriously in my lifetime, I took it seriously. The rest of the time, we piss about playing a second string against a mediocre team that holds zero interest and 9 times out of 10 we bottle it. It's always been the way since I started following the club in the early 90s. So to me, getting to the final was the pinnacle. Unless there's some sort of Football Manager style takeover and we get an enormous boost, I don't think we'll get there again in my lifetime so it was nice to enjoy it and the memory is still fresh in my mind (as is the seven hour coach journey home with no toilet).
When I was a teenager (and even as a child) I went all over, I went to away days at Yeovil, Exeter, Swindon, Colchester, Wrexham, Darlington and Brighton. I had Tuesday night games away at the likes of Torquay and Bristol Rovers. But that was when I had zero other commitments, I didn't have to drive and I didn't have to think about the people waiting for me when I got home. Times change and so must the way I support my club. I have to adapt and I defy anybody here to tell me they wouldn't put their family first over absolutely anything ever.
The fact I'm having to justify myself on an internet forum to people I don't ****ing know is frankly incredible, I don't think I'd ever question how somebody supports the club, I don't care if they're super glued to an arm chair with a city scarf stapled to their neck. It's my club and there won't ever be another but if I think the FA Cup is a load of ****, so be it, that's up to me. It's perhaps an extra ticket for a young kid who, like me, will experience that magic of City's success for the first time and that's far more important than a 30 something bloke going because he feels he has to otherwise he's a **** fan.
I'm not singling out Chazz here, his quote was answered in the first line, but this seems to be a recurring theme to some.
Wonder if Newcastle fans decided they had been to Wembley once in the 1950s and didn't go 5he other twice they go there in a short period? The fact a lot of people in Hull have your attitude is why we won't get like them. We had people who said the novelty of the top flight had worn off after a couple of seasons. Good job we haven't spent decades there as by that logic 5he stadium would be empty apart from away fans.
