'Joke Post' - wots that ?? French, did think summat not quite right about Stilton cheese and that county. As you're walking distance from Camembert Country (give or take a Kilometre or two) do you happen to know more re Stilton origins ?
Peterborough - a dump? Careful, my son was born there! It's actually grown on me a bit after living near for a few years - one redeeming feature - it's got a John Lewis! Wiki's got the Stilton thing...village does indeed exist, but the cheese has to be Leics, Notts, Derbys to be Stilton now. Back to the topic...number 34 please Leonardo, if it's not gone.
AM NOT looking for a Buy One Get One Free but any possibility,if wouldnt mess up your system, of changing to the now-obvious Winners i.e THE Hastings United ??( you'll get several enquiries asking same -first come etc ?)
How astute of you to realize one of the unpublished rules Nick - if you select a team outside of the top two tiers there is a December two for one offer so you get Hastings as your second prong. we do not do BOGOFF
No you're very kind Leo but not looking for unfair advantage. The 'Burts' have to go(sorry BA lads, but I'm the supporter who gave up on the Hornets once they stopped scoring 6 away from home). Anyway,I've already got the winner in my boys from Sussex. You know what you could do, give BURTON (S) to Graham TAILOR !! (how do I do it ? do I hear dunno, just wish he wouldnt?)
Well ok thanks, dont wanna put a spanner etc. Come May, people are gonna be so in awe when the Hasts and the Burts fight it out for The Cup.Gonna start practicing autographs now for my public
Goodness...just noticed I unwittingly sparked a Stilton debate. It really is a place and not far from Peterborough. It's a pleasant village with an excellent pub, an old coaching inn, called the Bell which used to serve substantial lunches, often including distinctive cheese sauces of the same name. Used to meet my sister there in the days when she'd catch a train down from Wakefield. As for Stilton cheese, that inspired one of the funniest stories in 'Three Men in a Boat' when the narrator is persuaded one very hot summer to transport a whole Stilton his friend has bought in Liverpool back to London by train. The only passenger not to suffer as a result is an old woman who, when asked to put her nose to the cheese, remarks that she can detect 'a faint odour of melons.'
