Just been having a butch over saints web and looks like we've all been mistaken on the record number being 19. It was 19 league games but we then won an FA Cup tie before losing the following match so we're still one game short. So we need Sheffield Wednesday to equal and Swansea to beat.
Someone posted this back in November. Would have been nice if someone who posts there regularly could have told us
We have had a load of more experienced players miss lots of chances in front of goal. It’s like when Yoshi and Stephens were out of the side for ages then were expected to be up to speed first game back. Fans are so impatient, me too, with players, especially young ones. Back in the day of apprentices, not footy ones, real industry ones, my dad had to learn on the job for seven years before he was felt to be up to the job. Now we expect young players to be ready after seven weeks.

Be a tough game that I reckon. Especially after battering them on boxing day, wouldn't surprise me at all if we lost that.
Interesting Some similarities Losing to Gillingham Starting in September through to January It was inthe 20's decade No VAR
Went to game as Xmas present from my son, including lunch at West Quay. Lovely day out and didn’t jinx the team Tried to remember when I last went… Mane scoring hat trick is a clue! Team played well…apart from spell in first half when Walsall got their tails up. And we could have been in trouble if they could finish…gave them chances. Enjoyable day and team looked good…especially as some were youngsters. Thanks, son. Just looked it up. Hat trick was 2015. Wow! 8 Years
Also, back in the day, there was only one substitute allowed, so if a youngster was put into the side he had less chance of being subbed off, if someone else was playing worse than him. Nowadays, with 5 subs allowed, they can get dragged off at half time in a game where they aren’t making an immediate impact instead of giving them extra time in the second half to step up. I think this is why I was pleased that RM didn’t make any early substitutions yesterday, despite the lack of first half goals. It could have backfired as Walsall showed up for 10 minutes in the second half but, iirc, mainly because of errors from senior players giving them chances.
I can definitely see improvements in him since he first arrived, far more competitive physically for a start, a stiff breeze could push him off the ball assuming Fraser, Adams and Arma all start i expect him to be first off the bench against Wednesday Saturday.
Saint in NZ I think you have confused me with someone else. I thought in August that Martin had a really difficult task ahead of him and the amount of damage done in the last two seasons would see 23/24 as very much a season of repair. I cannot recall being negative about him but was alot more cautious than many in here as I felt he had a very difficult job. As far as the season has gone so far, I think it is best summarised as "exceeding expectations." I missed the Plymouth match but would otherwise have to say that the performances from QPR onwards have been our best since the days of Koeman. We have tonked QPR, Blackburn and now Walsall. The Walsall result is particularly impressive as this has been done with a large and inexperienced squad. The FA is unpredictable and our progression is dependent upon who we draw. The race for the second automatic promotion place is between Saints and Leeds in my opinion. To go up automatically will , if anything, be more impressive than the promotion under Adkins because of the havoc caused by Natahn Jones. Regarding the attendance yesterday, I was a little disappointed. For me , the third round of the cup is one of the stand out games of the season. I am always gutted when we get an away tie. A match not to miss , in my opinion and also the opportunity to watch unfamiliar teams.
Can't agree that promotion this season would be more impressive than 11/12. We've easily one of the strongest squads in the league this year whereas we'd only just been promoted from league one last time. Back to back promotion is incredibly difficult proven by the fact nobody has achieved it since.
I agree, whilst Russell has had a tougher job than some give him credit for turning around a team that were serial losers there is no comparison to the achievement that Nigel and his squad pulled off. I believe that this is just the start though and we hopefully will start to perform as well away from home as we do at SMS.
