My opinion is that Gomes should start. He has played exceptionally well, I think he is all the better for the rest he gets. I know what it's like, as a goalkeeper, to be picked for a final not having played in the previous games. I was uncomfortable and so were the rest of the team. We lost too - Herts U16 Schools County Cup, no less. Ultimately that played on all our minds and I reckon that was why we lost. So I say keep the faith with Gomes. I would put Foster on the bench for this though - tough on Dahlberg Gomes; Kiko, Cathcart, Kabasele, Cholebas; Hughes, Doucoure, Capoue, Deulofeu; Deeney, Gray. [Foster, Britos, Janmaat, Success, Quina, Sema, Pereyra* (*Mariappa)]
Success still injured? If Pereyra is too might leave us light in attacking options? Cannot see Mariappa being dropped from the squad totally ..
Lawro has gone for a narrow Wolves win ( after extra time and Pens) encouraging based upon his success rate in our results.
Merson has gone for a 2-1 win as we are more physical.. Well maybe in the middle of midfield and with Deeney... Not sure I'd call some of our wide players that though!
E I'm waiting until I know the result and will decide whether to change my outward flight until the day after the final. My wife and daughter have assured me they can survive without my company for a few days !!!
That’s ridiculous. You can’t predict a pen winner. If you think it’s going to go to pens, just leave it at that and don’t try and predict the winner.
Looking at the number of posts on this thread already, I do not propose to create an additional Match Thread. As many of you are going it will not gather many comments during the game, so if you are happy with that Mark I will add things as I find them.
Still know Foster should start, hope Javi does. Hope if Gomes starts he has a blinder. Already got my Sunday sorted to watch this.
Strange to find myself disagreeing with Fez but I would definitely play Foster. Have to play our strongest team and show off what is without a doubt the best signing in the Premier League this season. I also found out this week that my brother has a ticket courtesy of his nephew's best mate at school. The only time we've ever been to wembley to watch Watford together we won 2-0. Fingers crossed!
Even Javi knows the dilema!!: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2019/apr/05/javi-gracia-confounding-expectations-at-watford “My opinion about Heurelho is that first of all he’s an amazing person and after that he’s a very good professional,” Gracia said. “I have to choose only one keeper. It’s not easy but it’s my job and I’ll try to choose the player who will give us the best chance to win.”
Well he is saying the "best keeper he must pick Ben" but i want him to keep with Gomes he has got us to Wembly Plus he keeps saying that all his players are good enough to play when needed
Here is the Deeney Telegraph interview: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/footbal...i-never-dreamt-footballer-wanted-fireman/amp/
Well worth buying the Telegraph today for the interview and cover picture entitled"Kingdom of Troy". In addition you get a lot of sensible views on Brexit.
M Unfortunately it's my step mother in law's 80th birthday so non attendance will not go down well but I will wear my Watford shirt which I know she thinks is awful.
Yes, thankyou, an intemperate moment. I’ll try to be more calm and reasonable, which can be a challenge sometimes in view of the provocation.
