That stupidity regarding the lay out at the KC is one which caused no end of problems when we started to get decent crowds. It was based on rugby fans swapping ends and no thought as to segregation which meant we couldn’t utilise the full stadium as exits and toilets and catering didn’t match up. Reading’s similar stadium meant they could open up different sections for away fans according to how many were coming and sell the other tickets to home fans with just one aisleway as segregation whilst we had acres of seats which we could have sold.

That is true. Remember Adam Pearson having to get a firm in to erect the dividing walls on the concourse between the East/North and West Stand because it had been 'overlooked'. Also the club/council thought that the South Stand would be the popular ( home) end for some reason.
Until that last minute meeting for City fans was called every seat inside the stadium was either black or white, the few yellow ones were installed at the very last minute. I remember asking the HCC top bloke. John North ? where our reserves were going to play, suggesting that we keep Boothferry Park for this and the community, and he didn't have a clue. It hadn't been considered where they would play.
The meeting took place in the old cricket pavilion which conveniently burnt down soon afterwards. We were given lip service.

Adam Pearson wanted the South Stand for home fans originally. Thinking about it that would have worked well, most home fans rolling up from Anlaby Road, away fans at opposite end, no need for fences outside and ridiculous police presence. Problem was the East Stand lot wanted to replicate the Kempton but at the end the Kempton only held 1,800, They were swamped by the over 4,000 others who wanted to watch from the side to get a better view and wanted to do so sat comfortably without people standing up and making a noise which diluted the atmosphere.
