For the FA cup they should bring in a rule similar to the jpt when we won it that you have to play at least 5 players from your previous domestic game in the cup ties. No idea if they still have that rule since they re formed the competition @brb ?
Nah the other idea was better. What about injuries and such? Seems like it would just complicate things even more, not to mention forcing clubs to field tired or injured players.
I don't get all the fuss tbph. The Premier League has less teams than the Old First Division. The FA Cup never used to have restrictions on the amount of replays, and we still had European Trophies. More importantly all the top teams today have far bigger squads and financial flexability.
Price of your success, you've got the resources to deal with it. You could go back to finishing 8th n not having this issue if you preferred?
I’d accept we’d have to field squad / U23 players in the domestic cups. I wouldn’t expect the rest of the entire national game to change comp rules to suit us.
It'd force managers to manage their squads which can only be a good thing. You'd also get a better quality of match as you're not getting a bunch of strangers line up next to each other in almost every game. I don't ever recall any big issue around injuries etc. but we only played in it for 2 seasons to be fair. I'd only do that for the FA Cup anyway, and then no teams in Europe to enter the league cup which would automatically make the rest take it more seriously.
I suppose if Klopp gets in all the excuses about too many games now, then if they blow the title with the massive point advantage they currently have, then at least his excuses are already lined up
