I have really wanted Idah to get a game or 2 off the bench, so would love to see him start. I agree about Rhodes, but Idah is one of our own!

Srbeny needs a start, and he can play attacking midfield. That was my logic.

Godfrey is a DCM, so would like to see him have a go there, show if he can impress. McLean isn't really a tackler, and Trybull is more of a creative. So, would make for a pretty open and attacking set up. That's why I went for Godfrey and Trybull sitting. McLean is more like a Madders type player, and left footed, so that's why I put him left wing. I like the idea of him at ACM, but I wanted a Srbeny start, and he's too slow to play on a wing. He'd be better sitting behind the striker.

I agree about Idah, but to bring him in ahead of Rhodes could be very demotivating for the latter. Idah on the bench would be good, but I suspect we'll see Pukki there instead. McLean's best position is CM. Trybull is a more defensive CM (more than a pure DM). Spyrou WL could make sense, as he started his career as a winger before becoming a striker. Lots of possibilities but DF will probably do something totally different. <laugh>

He will play the first team and make 3 subs on 93 minutes.

Yes, I hear what you're saying FML and TC etc, certainly do deserve a week off to prepare for the challenge of the Hawthorns and the upcoming games against the other teams breathing down our necks.
Totally agree re Aarons and TC and the starting 11 should certainly be interesting, but I expect one or two first team players in the line-up.

    Match facts
    • Norwich and Portsmouth will be meeting in the FA Cup for the first time since the 1949-50 campaign, when then top-flight side Pompey knocked out the Canaries in the third round.
    • Portsmouth have only won one of their last 10 matches away against Norwich in all competitions (D5 L4), though it was their last such visit back in December 2010.
    • Norwich City have not reached the FA Cup fourth round since 2012-13, falling out of the competition at this stage in each of the last five campaigns.
    • Against sides from a higher division in the third round, Portsmouth have only progressed from one of their last four such FA Cup ties, beating Norwich's rivals Ipswich Town back in January 2016.

That's a stronger lineup than anyone could have wished for. A statement of intent IMHO.

Would like to have seen Cantwell rested.
He looked completely knackered in last game

Is it strong by our squad’s standards? Injuries aside, I think non-Norwich fans would look at that and think there is only one potential first XI there - Hanley (or Zimmerman, not both). You could argue Cantwell I suppose, but I don’t think he’s in our strongest XI personally.

Surprisingly well balanced given these are effectively reserves. Shows that Farke and co have managed to develop (and whittle the squad down to) a carefully thought through total squad.

Great chance for one of these guys to push for a start in the league.
