Gills game v Leicester is LIVE on BBC.
..... with a 12.30pm kick off ( Saturday 7th January )......
....... or you could choose to give Mr. Scally Ltd another £ 25 !!! When will he learn ?? How many was it at the Dagenham replay -- 1533 (( which was swollen by the 287 from Dagenham )) - so, 1246 Gills fans bothered to pay for a game 'free-to-air.'
I cannot overstate my disgust that Mr. Scally has priced the adult ticket at an obscene level.... It's not as if Gills won't get a decent amount of TV money.
The game would have been a perfect occasion to virtually 'give away' tickets - for free to kids with adults paying no more than £10... It might help to get a decent crowd in the stadium - and if any of the retail / refreshment outlets were open ( for a change), there would be a chance to gain valuable income.............
ps - I 'd like to apologise for an outbreak of common sense - I haven't been myself since I went on a (no) goal diet 2 MONTHS ago
BUT - I wouldn't want you to think that I consider Mr. Scally to b a 'Scrooge' - he 's got a (very little) way to sink to certain levels...https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-64063387

if we're talking economic sense.....Leicester will probably sell out our away end and more (maybe GRS end blocks?) - so I can see why the price is £25 - I'm sure if Gills fans paid to turn up and see Dag & Red, then they also will buy again as you allude to, so he might not have much to gain from reducing the price, other than encouraging yougsters, which I do take your point on. Maybe they should just give Leicester the whole of the covered GRS...![]()
I don't think £25 is too bad to see this game. I like that it is £25 for all adult seats, also £15 for under 21. Also fair that season ticket holders and those who went to the replay get 4 days extra to get tickets. Also looks like Brian Moore stand will be open for Leicester at same price so should get higher gate receipts. Hopefully get around 9/10000Gills game v Leicester is LIVE on BBC.

No club would decrease price of ticket against a prem side in the 3rd round of F A Cup. So why should Scally. Leicester will sell out there tickets, for £25 so that is around 2000x £10 extra per person. Sounds good to megioblues,
I agree with you - that Gills should be getting 10,000+ for this game...... I can sympathise ( a little ), with Mr. Scally regarding the price structure - it will always be open to debate (( just as we have only two different opinions ))... Personally, a better balance would have been adult tickets @ £15... The 'younger' age group shouldn't have to pay more than £5-10...... If the tickets were more 'sensitively' priced, then the ground could be full - with an atmosphere more helpful to The Gills... Even with around 2,000 - 25000 Leicester fans, I reckon the attendance will be closer to 6000 / 6500.
You might now get your slide rule out and juggle the 'maths' - to calculate if the revenue will be higher with 10,000 paying 'my' prices, or the income from fewer, more expensive tickets -- But - that would be missing several points.... I'll give you a couple :
A more affordable price for tickets, (( bearing in mind that the game is free-to-air on BBC 1 & iplayer )), might encourage people to go to a game and create a better 'support' for the team... Any 'loss' of income from 'my' lower prices could be recovered from sales of refreshments and merchandise (( the Club would have to open the damned outlets for a change. ))... And as for loss of revenue - don't forget, Gills ( Scally ), will be getting a chunk from the 'Beeb.'
The lower prices I have suggested, might reflect a gesture of goodwill and appreciation by Mr. Scally - for the loyalty that the Club still receives despite its' perilous league position and dire performances over the last (( at least )) couple of seasons... But - when has Mr. Scally done anything for the Club without ensuring that his pockets haven't been bursting with your money ?
Oh - don't give the argument that Scally needs the money for better players etc etc -- I know I keep banging the same drum - but - Scally has never used any other cash of his own - other than the initial measly £1 over a quarter of a century ago.... During which time he has taken £Millions of your / my money to pay for his tax-exile existence -- and not daring to come to too many games in case he has to pay UK tax -- at a time when I am travelling thousands of miles going to every game - using hard-earned money that has been taxed !
This 'money-grabbing' scenario doesn't look like changing even if Gills gets independent investment in the near future -- Mr. Scally is so arrogant that he refuses to release control of the 'cash cow.' Mr. Scally has got the Club and its' affairs so tightly squeezed in his hands - that we can all be metaphorically singing Christmas carols in soprano.
Merry Christmas

Well should be near capacity now the takeover has happened.gioblues -
I will not dispute your ( restricted parameters ) maths.... I do believe that you'd have to subtract the probable loss of (at least ) 2000 Gills 'customers' x my price of about £15 from your equation... The bottom -line figure doesn't sound 'that' good to me ! .... AND -
(( whilst I'm not insisting a reply )) - You have made no comment to my 'political' points that I raised -- but, perhaps the World Cup has taught us that, maybe, politics should be kept out of football (( too many hypocrite living in glass houses ! ))
