Obviously money yes is a reason but money alone doesn’t guarantee what Villa have done. Just look at the difference between the way the two football clubs have been run. It’s not only how far Villa have advanced ahead of championship clubs but also how far ahead they (and the likes of Bournemouth Brighton Forest Brentford) are of the 3 clubs who came up. City had two chances in the PL and blew them both; and failed to learn from their mistakes. It’ll take a major fundamental change of personnel and direction to get anywhere near those clubs.
I see the Colwill luvvers are out in force............... He had a very good game against a quality side that allowed him the space, but at our level he's got some credit to pay back yet. Great losing performance from the whole team to be fair - now I'll take a poor winning performance on Tuesday.
Maybe unwittingly he’s found his best position, a deep midfielder. City might have profited more from some of his long passes after creating space for himself by virtue of his natural ability, had Riza picked Ashford from the off rather than the sluggish Willock. Surely no one can doubt his fitness and endeavours after witnessing his performance last night best exemplified by a lung bursting run up the line in the 90th minute beating several Villa players.
I'll agree 100% about Willock. Don't really know why he was on the pitch. He contributed very little and hasn't got the pace of Ashford nor Davies to run at and turn defenders. As far as Colwill is concerned, he took his chance and played well in the space he was given but we've had too many "green shoots" before. If he can create the space in Championship games rather than be given it like last night at Villa, we'll all be chuffed to bits.
Colwill is very enigmatic. I'm sure there's a player in there, its finding it and getting it to flourish. He's definitely not a wide player. He does ok as a 10 when he has the right players around him. Last night, he looked like he meant it. The commentators obviously haven't seen some of his less impressive games given their comments (also, not sure why they were calling Robinson Robertson at the start of the game). Maybe Colwill is an 8 and less of a 10. As I keep saying, Riza has to get the blend right and get the best out of players. Some of them willingly give that, it seems as if it has to be prised out of Colwill. Some positives last night. Salech seems to be up for it. Big, aggressive and knows where the back of the net is (though he didn't score last night). Bagan is growing into a decent player. Lawler wasn't phased. Ashford and Davies look to be very good products. Giles looked composed and dogged. They squad now need to turn out that concentration and determination in defence along with the counterattack that we've seen from them, with Salech and Robinson continuing to find the back of the net and we'll be fine. Its quite an 'if', but they've shown what they can do. Start with Salech and 2 of Davies, Ashford or Alves on Tuesday and let them have a lash at it.
Here's one to divide the posters on here. I wonder if the offers will follow? https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/premier-league-fans-blown-away-31109178
25% of the season still to go - give or take. If he can perform like last night in 60% of those games could be big bucks incoming.
