I think they were trying to play football with players who weren't good enough against opposition who were far too good. Robinsons reputation takes a dent.

Their midfield was so open it was bordering on suicidal.

Klopp singles out Caulker after Liverpool’s FA Cup draw with West Ham

“We had the bigger chances but now we have to play again,” Klopp told BT Sport post-match.

“West Ham have good quality in their team and play well in the league. We tried everything, [but] you need a bit of luck.

“I was pleased with the whole team. Steven Caulker played for the first time in his position in defence and did well but I cannot fault anyone, they tried and gave all.”

The Queens Park Rangers defender had surprisingly only been used as a striker in his short Liverpool career before the weekend’s clean sheet.

After holding out a potent West Ham attack for 90 minutes, Klopp may now think about using the 24-year-old in his favoured centre-back role more often.

The Reds have already conceded 32 goals in the Premier League this season, the eighth-highest in the top flight.

Adam Lallana scored a last-minute winner in the thrilling 5-4 victory over Norwich in their last league fixture and despite the wild celebrations, the German boss will be keen to tighten up his side’s leaky defence when they take on Leicester on Tuesday night.
