Midfield looks a lot more balanced and a chance for Rothwell to play further forward. Likewise, unsure on Mara outwide, but realistically he has to adapt like Arma has
Hoping we have better control and possession in midfield than the first game. I'll go for a 2-1 win, Che to score and maybe one of the subs.
Still a few square pegs in round holes, some of it unavoidable without playing more first teamers though so whatcha gonna do. I probably wouldn’t have even played Downes.
Guess he could have played THB and Bedders with Stephens RB and Charles instead of Downes but maybe he wants to play Stephens at CB.
Having realised just how good THB is, the thought of Stephens playing just scares the **** out of me.
Hope Meghoma has a good game and proves he is a genuine option at LB rather than having to shift across KWP or Bree or Manning can't play.
I assume we need to give Stephens some game time because if we stay down we will want / need him to be one of the starting CBs next season. Because if he felt alienated and tried to leave we’d have a real challenge in defensive recruitment
We were desperately in need of a playmaker in the first half at Vicarage Road. So either Smallbone or Downes had to start tonight, but I’m surprised to see both.

It’s a stronger side than the reverse and hopefully Rothwell is fit, integrated and up to speed now too. Hope this is the game he starts to show what he’s about, particularly with Downes and Smallbone behind him.
