Craven cottage holds fond memories for me - my first ever game was fulham-Torquay. Someone won 2-1 but for the life of me I can't remember who. I also remember jimmy hill there(was he on MOTD? Seem to remember him being a television personality). Then just a couple years later(maybe 95) I played a cup final there. This was when they had cabbins for dressing rooms.. Glamorous. A good tie IMO- we get to put ourselves against a modest premiership opponent, and there is very much a chance for an upset. Looking forward to seeing how good some of these players really are.
I was hoping for a decent, but not top drawer PL tie, so this will do. A reasonable payday, a chance to progress (say 30%), decent opposition to play against (i.e. not a Stoke style team) but not a glamour tie (Man City, Utd etc) which might have distracted the players too much from the key league games before then.
All I can think of is the ridiculous award of a free kick in Pardew's first game in charge when it should have been our throw.
A painful memory, actually shouldn't it have been a free kick to us, as their player handballed it :-(
