Fourth Qualifying Round Draw. CARSHALTON ATHLETIC v Dagenham & Redbridge The Daggers are in the National League, two levels above the hosts. They reached the Fourth Round in 2002-03 HAVANT & WATERLOOVILLE v Dulwich Hamlet The Hamlet are in the same division as the Hawks (National League South) The third path will then commence in Round One, with Pompey's 'Jim Bowen' Road to Wembley
If you're not going to Wimledon on Saturday, why not head up to Westleigh Park to help Havant & Waterlooville in their quest to reach the First Round Proper of the FA Cup. Adults £12, Concessions £10. Accompanied u16s FREE
Pompey have been drawn away to Harrogate Town in the first round of the Emirates FA Cup. The tie will take place at Wetherby Road on the weekend of November 8-11. A confirmed date and ticket information is to be announced in due course. It will be the first meeting between the sides, with the hosts currently sitting eighth in the National League. But Craig MacGillivray will certainly be familar with the Yorkshire outfit, having made 90 Conference North appearances for them between 2012 and 2014. They reached this round of the competition with a 2-1 win at Halifax in the fourth qualifying round on Saturday. Pompey assistant manager Joe Gallen said: "We'll have a bit of homework to do and will try to find out as much as we can about them. "It's a side that I've never come up against before, but they're doing well in the National League and it will no doubt be a tough game. "The FA Cup is a brilliant competition and this is a tie that we'll certainly look forward to when it comes around." One team have already booked their place in the second round, with Chichester City – the lowest ranked side remaining – receiving a bye due to Bury's EFL expulsion.
Thanks for the Harrogate write-up woops. Disaster for the Hawks as they went out at the 4th qualifying stage for the 2nd year running after going down 1-2 at home to Dulwich Hamlet So it is DULWICH HAMLET who are through and are at home to Carlisle Utd. The Cumbrians are in League Two, two levels above their hosts. Their best FA Cup run came in 1974-75 when they reached the Quarter Finals. Our next Baton Holders, CARSHALTON ATHLETIC, are through after a 2-1 win at home to Dagenhan & Redbridge. They will be at home again in the First Round Proper in an all-non-league tie against Boston Utd. The Pilgrims are plying their trade in National League North, so are a level above the hosts. On 10th December 1955 they won 1-6 away to Derby County (then in Division Three North); the biggest ever FA Cup away win by a non-league side against league opposition We now move on to the Third Road in the journey to Wembley with The Jim Bowen (this is what you could have won) Road as POMPEY join the fray. As Woops has already pointed out, we are away to Harrogate Town. The Sulphurites are in The National League in a tie which is a potential banana skin for us (Remember Aldershot Town) Their best FA Cup performance came in 2012-13 with a 2nd Round Replay. Matches to be played the week-end of Saturday 9th November You can see the full draw here http://www.thefa.com/news/2019/oct/21/fa-cup-first-round-draw-211019
I It has to be a non-league side at home to a league side on TV surely! There are NINE to choose from Harrogate Town v Pompey Dulwich Hamlet v Carlisle Utd Wrexham v Rochdale Chippingham Town v Northampton Town Hayes & Yeading v Oxford Utd Gateshead v Oldham Athletic Dover Athletic v Southend Utd Barnet v Fleetwood Town Maidenhead Utd v Rotherham Utd For me I agree with Ides that Harrogate v Pompey is the best one. Dover v Southend is an upset possibility Barnet v Fleetwood Town would be interesting - it's only seven years ago that Barnet were in the league and Fleetwood were non-league
Two of our three featured ties are going out live on TV. DULWICH HAMLET v Carlisle Utd is on Friday 8th November at 19:55 on BBC 2 Harrogate Town v POMPEY is on BT Sport at 19:45 on Monday 11th November
An interesting write-up about all the non-league sides in Round One. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50139021
So two of our three baton Holders for Round Two are now known to us. Fri DULWICH HAMLET 1-4 Carlisle Utd Sat CARSHALTON ATHLETIC 1-4 Boston Utd We will have to wait until Monday evening (at least) to see if it is Harrogate Town or POMPEY who will be joining them.
So POMPEY have avoided the banana skin at Harrogate and have been drawn at home to Altrincham. The Robins are currently in National League North, three levels below the 2008 Cup winners. They have been victorious in the Cup aginst League opposition no fewer that 17 times, ten of those in the 1980s They reached the Fourth Round in 1985-6, knocking out Blackpool in Round 2 and Birmingham in Round 3. CARLISLE UTD are away to Forest Green Rovers. The Green Devils, like their hosts, are in League Two. Their best cup run was to the Third Round in 2008-9 and 2009-10, while still a non-league outfit in the Conference (National League). The corresponding League fixture at Brunton park on 17th September ended in a 0-0 draw. BOSTON UTD, the lowest ranked of the baton holders, will be away to either Wrexham or Rochdale - details to follow after the replay on Tuesday 19th November. The ties are to be played on the week-end of Saturday 30th November
Rochdale beat Wrexham 1-0 in their replay, so the third game in our route is Rochdale v BOSTON UTD The Dale are in League one, which is 3 divisions above the visitors They have reached Round 5 on three occasions. The most recent was two seasons ago, when they held Tottenham to a 2-2 draw at Spotland before bowing out 6-1 in the replay at Wembley.
Saturday's results: Forest Green Rovers 2-2 CARLISLE UTD POMPEY 2-1 Altrincham So POMPEY are through by the skin of their teeth, while CARLISLE UTD and Forest Green will have to replay. BOSTON UTD travel to Rochdale tomorrow.
West Ham at Fratton Park in the next round would be brilliant. A full house, two great sets of fans and plenty of humour.
Pompey v Spurs at Fratton Park for me, with a chance of a replay at Tottenham's amazing new ground !!
The 3rd Round draw has been made https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50637970 and here are how our batons are doing. Our original Baton started at the beginning, held by BINFIELD UTD in the Extra Preliminary Round Our second one was started in the 2nd Qualifying Round with HAVANT & WATERLOOVILLE Then the Jim Bowen Baton commenced in Round One with POMPEY So this is what the draw has thrown up for us: ROCHDALE or BOSTON UTTD v Newcastle Utd The Magpies are of course in the Premier League this season. That's two divisions above The Dale and five above The Pilgrims. They have won the FA Cup on six occasions, but you would have to go way back to 1955 for their last triumph. Last season they went out in Round Four, with a 0-2 defeat at home to Watford. Cardiff City v FOREST GREEN ROVERS or CARLISLE UTD The Bluebirds are in the Championship, two divisions above each of their potential visitors. They took the FA Cup out of England for the only time in 1927 (On St Georges day no less!) They were, of course, the runners up when Sol Campbell lifted the cup in 2008. They went out at this stage last season, with a shock 1-0 defeat at League One Gillingham. Fleetwood Town v POMPEY Pompey are the only baton holders not required to reoplay, thanks to Brett Pitman's 94th minute header against a very brave Altrincham. The Fishermen are in the same division as Pompey, so this will be very much like another league match. They will be trying to reach Round Four for the first time in their history, having reached this stage four times; this being the third season in a row. Last season they went down 2-3 at home to fellow League One outfit AFC Wimbledon. The sides are yet to meet in the league this season; the fixtures being at Highbury on 22nd February and at Fratton Park on the evening of 10th March.
Replay results: CARLISLE UTD 1-0 Forest Green Rovers BOSTON UTD 1-2 Rochdale So on Saturday 4th January it will be: 12:31 ROCHDALE v Newcastle Utd 15:01 Cardiff City v CARLISLE UTD 17:31 Fleetwood Town v POMPEY All 32 of this season's FA Cup third round ties will kick off a minute late as part of a campaign to promote mental health
Not sure how kicking off one minute later (most matches don't start on the dot anyway) is going to promote mental health. Just means the music will play for a minute longer, the players stand in a line a minute longer, etc. Unless they use that minute to have a minutes silence for all the spectators to reflect on their mental health which is both unlikely and unrealistic.
