At last. Bury just gone 2-1 against Hemel. I used to live about 10mins from Hemel and thought Bury would win 10-0
Shocking tackle on Scowen for the red card with Martin Allen waving his hands at the ref screaming no foul, f*ck off that could have broken his leg! Our 3rd goal looked miles offside but again i don't really care. Akinde played well for Barnet i'd love to see him partner Paul Hayes as together they'd scare the cr*p out of defenders. Well happy with 3-1 lets not get a non-league team away in round 2 please, someone likew Hartlepool at home would do me.
Have to say we were under the cosh in the first half, but mainly due to the conditions. Both Pierre and Jombatti were struggling to deal with the high ball due to the swirling wind and Barnet played the long ball game which certainly paid dividends for them initially. Sadly that was pretty much the limit of their game. A team of bruisers that just lumped it up in the air to Akinde. Second half when the wind was against them saw them produce virtually nothing and we were the ones playing the football. For me it showed the difference between the conference and league 2 and I genuinely think that without the conditions we would have played them off the park.
That's encouraging because usually the best of the Conference teams are L2 standard, as shown by their progress after promotion to League status. PS As of course we were when we were non league
I sat down this morning to watch the highlights of Wycombe & Barnet on BT expecting about 10 mins & there was an hour the only game on. It looked very much like people are saying Barnet playing with wind & rain should have put us under more pressure. But second half they looked like it was'nt happening for them. The penalty some you get some you don't we got this one. The two sending offs referee got both both right the first one a missed timed tackle it happens but the second you do wonder what gets in some players heads maybe he wanted a couple of saturdays off to go Christmas shopping. Well done Ainsworth & the team a difficult game made to look comfortable in the end
British Telecom I know you live in France Ron but you must remember BT they have the rights to the FACUP with BBC this year they show as much football as Sky now next season they are screening the champions league in this country
looking at it again, the penalty was soft but givable (if that's a word) - the two red cards no doubt and togwell getting send off killed it for barnet because after then they weren't in the game at all, and as soon as pierre scored they didn't look like producing anything else. hoping for a easy home tie in the second round before hopefully a big FAC third round tie away to a prem club
I remember BT Phil, didn't know they showed football videos though. Can't bloody see them "in your country or location"
