It may be good for society, but it doesn't mean that the other religions don't have things which would also be good. The difference is that Christianity made their demands first and they've been there so long that it's not seen as coming from religion anymore, where as when changes are suggested or adopted it's seen as allowing ourselves to be rolled over by a religion. The point I was addressing wasn't about whether the rules in question were right or wrong, it was the suggestion that not all religions expect to be treated specially when it's purely down to timing. Christianity imposed it's rules onto everyone here before, to make out Judaism and Islam becoming bigger religions and the followers wanting certain things changed is something new and virtually evil I just find hypocritical. All religions have acted the same way, I'm sure when Christian nations are condemning Islamic nations for things and sending in the tanks to take control of the oil fields they're also thinking "We've done things this way forever, who do these Christians think they are coming to our country telling us how to do things, they should stay where they are if they don't like our laws" in just the same way people react to the opposite here. It's a bit of a moot point though isn't it, we all know these issues come from a combination of crooked leaders of churches and from middle class white lawyers that have found a way to screw the country out of a fortune in legal costs by deciding somebody might be offended by something, when most of the time the supposedly offended people are sat there saying they couldn't give a **** and they'd rather things didn't change because they just get hassled as a result.
But backing away from it again: How the **** are the two small club players getting charged, whilst the big club players are just getting warnings for doing the same thing a small club player got banned for. There doesn't seem to be any logic between them, they could at least explain the differences.
there has been a mention somewhere - cannot remember where I'm afraid - that there are no set guidelines as to punitive measures in these cases - typical FA! - but that the usual measue for incidents such as this that do not occur on the field of play, result in a fine rather than a ban - possible grounds for contention if a ban is imposed - precedence and all that. anelka's gesture was on the pitch.
Poor move really, they should be staying well out of it, Sagbo was a twat, he should just say sorry and hope he gets a reduced fine.
Despite the inequality on display here (big club v small club), I do agree with this. He isn't going to get away with it, they should just tell him to put on his best Sorry face and not be such a plonker in future. End of. Nasri should be charged though. In fact they should charge him with some other stuff as well, just for being an objectionable little ****.
So long as Sagbo gets harsher punishment than Nasri, who did the pose himself, the club should fight tooth and nail to get Sagbo on an equal footing, and if the FA still punish Sagbo harder for a lesser offence then a legal challenge should definitely be mounted. Sagbo should be punished for being a twat but the club and the fans should be right behind getting him a fair and equal trial, why roll over and allow Sagbo to have the book thrown at him for tweeting a picture of Anelka making the gesture whilst Nasri gets barely a slap on the wrists and allowed to carry on as normal for getting pictured making the gesture himself. It's prejudiced biased bullshit and anyone who's willing to allow it to happen is a proper weak minded ****. Well done the club for not rolling over.
there was no mention of Anelkas salute in the post match report on the BBC sports page . They show the celebration "salute" but they didnt pick up on it being derogatory . The point im trying to make is that the offence the Club is defending with is Sagbo not intending to offend anyone . Now i dont believe Anelkas salute offended anyone at the time (during the game ) and so when the salute was picked over and his twitter comment was thrown in people realised the salute had a meaning . If the salute IS offensive , then publishing the gesture telling people to be offended (i am talking in the context of British knowlage as it stood ) is the actual offence hmmm ? Sagbo may well have known the salute or at least understood it at the time we did but nobody here noticed nor did anyone at the BBC . Cry me a river http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/25474663
Sagbo and BAE have been given extra time to respond to the charges, so he's still fine to play at Wembley. I saw on Twitter someone was saying Sagbo's wife is Jewish. That looked like providing a good bit of a defence until tonight's Dead Famous DNA announced Eva Braun was Jewish.
Eva wasn't Jewish, she descended from Jewish ancestry. I descend from Christian ancestry. But i'm not Christian. Didn't Hitler descend from Jewish ancestry too?
You're confusing the religion and the race (it is a bit of a pain in the arse with Jewish referring to one or the other and them going pretty hand in hand). Resorting to stereotypes, you don't suddenly get a big nose by converting to Judaism, and the Nazis weren't too fussed about asking whether or not you had a copy of the Torah sitting on your book shelf when they decided your blood was unpure. I've heard about Hitler apparently being 1/16 Jewish before, which would be 1 of his great great grandparents, but I can't remember if that was fact or if it was something that was put out at the time by our propaganda machine to try to make Hitler look bad (I appreciate the "as if it was needed" factor). I just found the timing amusing given "I can't believe I'm being accused of supporting anti-semitism, my wife is a Jew" was likely to form part of the basis of Sagbo's defence.
Hitler was rumoured to be the grandson of a Jewish housemaid and his grandfather I believe, which would make him 1/8th Jewish. Judaism is traditionally traced through the mother's family - since you can't be positive of who your father was, or couldn't in those days - so in that sense being Jewish is a race, but you can obviously convert to or away from it.
The FA have scored a massive Own Goal by charging Sagbo. No wonder it has been delayed. I suspect that the FA will be feeling very and by the end of it.
