  6. I watched this match with a Chelsea-supporting mate of mine. As a neutral, I've got to say that, apart from the first sending-off (which I thought was a little harsh), the ref got it just about right. Yes, Lampo could have had a penalty awarded in the 2nd half - and had you been playing at home that might well have been given - but you see dozens of decisions like that not given, week in and week out.

It was a keenly contested affair, with Chelsea desperate for the win, but coming up against a stubborn QPR side who relished the occasion of playing their biggest rival in quite a few seasons. Too many of your players began to lose their rags, and it made it far easier for the ref to dish out the yellow cards against you than against the QPR players.

And, as much as I find him to be quite an odious individual, I thought Barton had a great game for QPR, and was a persistent thorn in the side of the Chelsea players.

    <ok>.

Wouldn't say we were 'desperate' for the win, I'd say they were more desperate because of the home rivalry. It would be nice to be 2nd today but in saying that United lost by 5 goals yesterday so I'm not overly bothered about it. I just wish we lost in fairer circumstances.

Actually **** that I wish we hammered them 6-1 <grr>

  9. That's the way you've got to look at it. Every team (perhaps with the exception of City) is going to lose points at some time during the rest of this season; and you just know that you are going to lose points to the team that you least expect to. I see 2nd, 3rd and 4th being contested by you, us, United and 'Pool (I don't think Newcastle or Arsenal have enough strength in depth to put in a prolonged challenge this season), and I think it could go to the wire.

I'd love to see us take 3rd this season, but I think both you and United are going to be too strong for us. However, I do believe that we can and will hold off 'Pool for 4th.

It's going to be exciting, that's for sure!

I think City will be winning it this year for sure, it's still early so they could crumble under pressue. I honestly think we will finish above United, we've been playing the most consistant football behind Citeh IMO.

I think your lot will get fourth, a lot stronger team than 'pool or anybody else going for it.

  11. I said to my Chelsea mate that we'll be battling you for 3rd this season.

How we fare depends on how quickly we can get back our injured players, especially our defenders, such as King, Gallas and Dawson, but also players like Pinaar and Huddlestone.

Sorry but can't see that, we're title contenders. It'll be you and pool for fourth I think with you beating them by a couple of points.

  13. Nah, I think it'll be far closer than that, this season. We haven't lost our last 10 matches (in all competitions), and that includes a win at the Emirates and our demolition of LFC.

If we hadn't had so many injuries, and particularly if we'd had Scott Parker, I believe we would have got something off either United or City, too.

No team is going to look forward to playing us, this season.

No chance. Chelsea are streets ahead of Spurs. We heard the same thing last season and finished way above you.

The cream always rises to the top in the end <ok>

Spurs will get nowhere near Chelsea this year. A fit Ledley King, Bale and Modric would be the only players really worthy of a first-team place in the current Chelsea side.

I sympathise with the opinion that the players got worked up as things didn't go their way but, for a team of professionals, let alone one of the best teams in the world, that's quite poor of such an experienced side. I must say, Patick Barclay's column in today's Times was a very good read from someone far less biased than any of us.

Mata, Sturridge and Anelka >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Bale

I applaud the crowd for making it difficult, I wouldn't begrudge your victory if you had scored a more ligitimate goal. Said it before, I hope you stay up this season and I'm sure you will. Love to see many more WL derbies over the next few years.
