Anything that stops cars gong around the track during a race is a bad idea.

What would be better is if some of the marshalls and circuit organisers were better trained so incidents can be dealt with quicker.

Sometimes it seems to take forever just to move a car out of the way simply because it's taking too long to get equipment there or the marshalls not knowing how to use the equipment properly.

An Indycar style system where there are recovery trucks at strategic places around the track would work much better so they can be on the scene and getting the cars off quickly. It seems ridiculous that it can sometimes take 4/5 laps just to get one broken down car into a safe place.

Well I live outside of the UK so don't hear nor listen to whatever you're talking about... so all I can base it off is what I see here on not606 and the views in this country... So I am being serious. Please don't be so dismissive.

Yeah, to be fair its not really like that here in the States. You don't see the massive hype around Hamilton like you do in the English media.

This is going to cause lots of problems. The engines can't keep running while sitting waiting for track to be cleared they will over heat. So they will have to switch them off then have pit crew restart engines. So more wear and tear on clutches and transmission, so more money in development and testing required.

What happens if the accident is on the grid? Where do they restart from?

A slightly better idea would be everyone goes back to pit garages and then when track clear they all start engines and make way to grid for a restart. Maybe while in pits they can change tyres and make changes to cars including suspension?

I was going to say, I think the tires is another fairly huge problem to consider. Unless they're allowed to change tires then not only do you have guys sitting out there on overheating engines, but you also have people on different stages of tire wear. A standing start on scrubbed tires doesn't sound particularly safe or smart.

Honestly, if they want to make some changes that would have some immediate effect on the racing, let them run whatever tire strategy they want. Stop with this crap "Oh you have to race on both compounds." Why? Let them run with whatever tires they get the best performance from. Artificially forcing pitstops to change tires just to see if someone can be caught out is asinine. Let them race ffs.

Here's a couple more things:
-Double points for the final race is f**king stupid. I don't want to assume, but I think most everyone will agree with that.
-Standing starts for safety cars is f**king stupid. I understand the logic behind the idea. "The start is the most exciting part of the race. So let's have that happen a couple of times." Ya know, maybe if the actual racing itself was better you wouldn't have to resort to stupid bull**** like that.
-DRS is just another artificial piece for the racing. There's nothing technical being added by allowed the back wing slot to open. The sport is full of gimmicks, but this is a ****ty one. We're supposed to be pushing the envelope of technology alongside proper racing not saying "Oh, overtaking is impossible. Let them open up the wing to actually be able to pass someone."
-I'd say KERS should be kept, though, because its a technical innovation that has purpose in not only making the cars quicker, but also has real value in the world of motorsport.
-Tires: provide multiple compounds like always, but have them last longer! Making them degrade quickly for the sake of forcing pitstops is again a silly gimmick. Also, as I said before, let them run what they want. No forced pitstops because you have to run both compounds. If someone needs to change because they scrubbed their tires, fine, of course they can pit. But that's down to driver error, not that the tires fell away quickly and they have to run a compound their car runs slower on.

Just a few thoughts I've had. Other stuff is a bit trickier because of the massive amounts of money involved and I'm not going to claim I have a whole handful of experience in that regard. Seeing the teams be a little bit closer together in terms of money awarded would be welcome, I think. The real question is how do you go about doing that? Hard to say.
