I predict absolute destruction.
Marko being as 'nasty' as ever. Today he is reported to be saying Max should try and get the Virus as he is young, fit and healthy so he can be in a better position for the 2020 championship when/if we go racing again!!!
The man has no common sense just a greed for money.......
Once again Helmut Marko in "not a very nice person" shocker.
considering Holland's approach to it all he probably will.
According to Sky Sports Italia, Scuderia Ferrari has already offered Sebastian Vettel a one-year contract and a lower salary than he has received so far at Maranello.
I wonder if Seb will stay?
The proposal of the 2020 season extending into 2021 to try and catch up will certainly make drivers contracts a bit interesting.
He will stay I reckon .
It would be a bit of a come down though, only 1 year deal when young rookie team mate given deal till end of 2024!! Plus a pay cut!!! Not sure he really has many options. Plus 2021 will only, hopefully, be a full season using same 2020 chassis. Maybe he will just consider it his retirement year and just take the money and enjoy it. Then again is that really what Ferrari need? They need 2 good drivers pushing each other and willing to abide by team orders. I wonder if Ferrari are thinking of going back to have clear No 1 driver and a rear gunner?
On another point I wonder how much work F! engineers can do at home? There could be lots of innovations coming if/when we get running again.
Oh yes a come down , but I think he's desperate .
Unless he moves to another team , or retires of course .
Nice Fence this
Looks like f1.co are showing old races. On Sat 27th 15:00 GMT will be Bahrain 2014. The Esport race is on Sunday 20:00 GMT with Lando and friends
1,000 a day, that's good going!
And at the opposite end of the 'feelgood' scale, we have the latest from Darth Marko (naturally)... https://www.bbc.com/sport/formula1/52091905
But on a lighter note, let's hook up F1's technological and engineering excellence with this guy... 'Virus-fighting' scientist gets magnets stuck in nose
That’s it, I’m Photoshopping later.
Reports coming out that FIA have banned DAS from 2021. So I wonder how that effects Mercs 2020 chassis going into 2021? I guess they have a standby steering system without DAS in case marshals ban it at a track.
I do hope we get to see it used in anger.
I also read somewhere that Merc were using it in 2019!! But due to camera positions or the amount of steering wheel movement it's operation wasn't obvious like it was in testing. Does make me wonder if Merc just forgot the in car cameras were going to be broadcasting and hadn't put a cowling over the column that was visibly a different colour? I wonder when they first started using it?
I Think DAS has been banned for 2020 as well ?
I thought that it was legal in 2020 unless stewards found otherwise? The FIA had banned it for 2021 but there had been speculation that due to 2021 rules being delayed till at least 2022 then the delay could have made DAS legal for 2021 (running with 2020 rules).
It's all a bit of a mess and lots of uncertainty.
There are also talks of reducing the budget cap from 175 mill down towards 150 mil or lower. Plus there is a ban on developing cars to the new 2021/2022 rules.
Hopefully most teams will be able to furlong staff to reduce their costs. That begs the question about the F1 teams helping with Ventilators, i.e. if staff are working on ventilators can they still be classed as furlong and get gov assistance?
I hope we don't lose any teams.
I will try and find the bit about DAS being illegal for 2020
Go to 6 Minutes 05 seconds .
Hello, he is saying banned for 2021, not 2020. He is suggesting a race steward might deal with an objection but I don't see that as being a stewards decision, if it were, Merc would appeal.
His statement it being banned for 2021 is true for the current technology design but he didn't cover the actual rule statement which says any alteration to the wheels can only be performed by the rotation of the steering wheel. For me that does not ban it in 2021, likely will not be developed to be legal but if it is so successful as a performance differentiation they could engineer a work around of the rules if it is achieved through the rotation of the wheel, not push and pull. Whether that would constitute active suspension, can't see how, as it is not suspension, strictly speaking.
Bigger concern is whether there is a season this year.
I don't believe China has not had anymore cases and no more deaths. There is no vaccine yet, nor likely for many more months. Unlock the lockdown and I reckon it will just pick up again. Macron is saying the world will never be the same again and that there has to be change to globalisation.
Anyway, enough with the depressing. I hope you are all well, to my knowledge I have not had the virus as yet.
