Lawrence Stroll seems keen to work with him more, but I think that'll develop over a longer period than Hamilton has left in the sport. I think the "theory" is that Mercedes want to decrease their financial commitment to F1, with the team being self-funding. The budget cap helps, but is still likely to leave a lot of unemployed Mercedes engineers. Stroll would be looking to do some kind of deal with Mercedes/Toto to set up a much closer relationship between Aston Martin/Mercedes/Mercedes F1/Racing Point, helping Mercedes F1 to have the resources to continue to dominate F1, and helping Aston Martin Racing Point become a more frontrunning F1 team. Who knows maybe even an option to get Lance into a Merc seat... Toto would be well-suited to an overarching role across all four organisation.
https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/150234/mclaren-no-risk-of-team-dropping-off-f1-grid-in-2021/amp/ Good news: McLaren have stabilised the finances Not so good news: McLaren have had to put on hold their windtunnel project and other infrastructure moves until the impact of Covid becomes clearer. Understandable but the wind tunnel is a huge part of the future and a massive part of the James Key- Andreas Seidl axis which is so exciting. Hopefully we get on top of this global pandemic and we can then plan ahead.
Ferrari having their usual spectacular start to the season. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/53160036 Ferrari have been forced to make a major redesign of their car as a result of flaws discovered since it ran in pre-season testing in February. Team boss Mattia Binotto said work on understanding why the car was off the pace led to a "significant change of direction in terms of development".
I think they're getting these ahead of schedule. The non-Rokit Williams livery appeared in game trailers before the team had officially announced it.
So Seb didn't even get offered a contract. Although Sad his Ferrari career ended this way I think it was a good call by Ferrari. It never really clicked. 2021 looks like it will be their most exciting lineup in years
I agree and actually the way they are talking- this is likely a rebuild and a new approach. Seb is in the later prime years as a 4x WDC and it might well be that Ferrari aren’t a Championship contender for these next two years. Sainz and Le Clerc give them time, some cost savings, and of course some gear young talent to nurture. They should be a good fit and I think Sainz is someone who will continue to get better and better and give Le Clerc something to think about. Would like to see Lewis and Seb go head to head in the same car- can you believe it’s been 13 years since Lewis and Fernando locked horns in the McLaren? Incredible. Have said it before though, the team who need an experienced fast driver the most are Red Bull- Vettel or Alonso would give them a heck of an improved chance of a World Constructors Championship.
Marko likes discovering young talent, it is how ne operates. The team is not supportive of a mature driver approach. MV will get there but I don't think he will be the best driver of all time, maybe not even of this new generation.
Is there a name for the condition of blowing a gasket every time Crofty speaks in his excited child voice, talks about Sebastian “Fettel”, or Di Resta talking about Mer-Shade-Eeez? Im absolutely fuming every time the commentary starts. Can Sky not see that Crofty is better as a show anchor rather than lead commentator? HELP ME
The F3 team were no better this morning "And Piastri has a problem!!! From third he's slow on the pit straight!! Has there been contact!!!?? Oh wait they're just lapping his teammate.
Murray Walker was famous for a faux pas or three! You might need to consider counselling as a solution
Renault expected to name new driver today to replace Ricciardo. Fernando Alonso is tipped- there is even talk that he will replace Ricciardo before the end of the year but that would be odd.
Should have gone for anyone but Alonso. Sorry, while he is a great driver I feel he just kills morale in a team. OK so he will get an extra 0.2 out of the car but just think they would have better spent their money on a younger driver and better car.
