Did the article say the same fuel and lub spec as pu manufacturers or just same fuel and lub supplier? I am sure I read, although it was last season, that Merc had a exclusive fuel and lub pack from their supplier.
Mercedes claim that they prefer their customers to have identical fuels but identical can be taken many ways.
Ferrari have just signed a FIA man, and screwed the teams 12 month gardening leave agreement. Wonder what tricks we'll see on the red car soon.
YES MCLAREN WINS!! https://jalopnik.com/mclaren-embraces-ugly-f1-halo-and-gets-flip-flops-spons-1823827364
https://www.gpfans.com/en/articles/924/halo-prompts-change-to-start-procedure-in-melbourne/ Additional starting lights to be installed at Melbourne as drivers (esp the person on pole) might not be able to see the normal lights because of the halo.
Little Jack Horner has gone crying back into his corner about Haas http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula-one/43568043 This being the head of the same team who runs a junior team, who collaborate to decide which engine is best for them to use in the future, who used to share identical parts and chassis, and now whingeing because Haas have produced a competitive car. The idea that it is a clone of the 2017 Ferrari is nonsense. The cars have moved on so much more that even a year old car would not be that close to the front of the grid. Using other teams concepts and style cues is nothing new, they all do it, this just smacks of sour grapes. The cars are likely to be fairly similar because Hass use Ferrari engines, gearboxes and suspension, so the concept of the car is going to be similar to make it all work properly. If Haas went down a completely different direction, like they did last year, and end up off the pace, what's the point in doing that!?
tbh if you painted all the cars black I'd have trouble identifying which was which as they all look very similar due to such tight regulations, and if something works on a car within a race or 2 everyone has it. The Ferrari was a good all-round car, of course it's going to be copied, people would be idiots not to. Haas is a legal 'customer car', the others are whining as they realise they are probably going to be beaten by Haas when we get to the more power oriented track, though, tbh, they look like they'll beat McLaren anyway.
Depends on the nature of the copying. A bunch of engineers figuring out how the Ferrari works is fine. Any assistance from Ferrari in doing so is not and those teams are a little too close for my liking. I hope this isn't the beginning of the return to customer cars. Also worth noting that last years Ferrari did a 1:22.4. You can't translate the times exactly of course, but i reckon they'd still make Q3 easily if they hadn't touched it in 12 months.
I don’t know why anyone would complain. It’s smart from Haas in terms of letting them fight at the head of the midfield, but it’s also an approach that will never allow them to win anything as they are a Ferrari test bed. It’s good to see a team on a small budget do well. I just wonder what would happen with fair monetary distribution! Oh wait, that’s right, some COMPETITION! These big teams need to get over themselves and actually race.
How dare Haas do well, who do they think they are! They don't even get historical backhander payments. They're supposed to prop up the field then go bankrupt.

RBR have started official talks with Honda for 2019. The units have certainly looked far better than they have done in previous years and probably will come with £100m of additional benefits for the team compared to shelling out for Renault units.
