Good points, however Honda have made decent engines at various points. The Mugen Honda was pretty handy in smaller teams and the 2004 BAR would have been a race winner in any other year.
DiR made a good point that there must be an unknown factor still to be announced, why would RB loan or lose Sainz to Renault and potentially be engineless in 2019?
Minardi Motori-Moderni! Possibly not the same expectations as McLaren-Honda, but that piece of crap also laboured on for 3 years!
Subaru, Life, Lamborghini, all were much worse than the Honda is. the McLaren Peugeot wasn't that good either.
Lamborghini and Peugeot did get podiums though, so no where near as bad as Honda. Both ended up turning into respectable units. McLaren tried the Lambo engine for 1993 before plumping for Ford. Fortunately Subaru and Life lasted less than a season each, and were so terrible nobody bothered to try them again!
This talk of Aston Martin , What would RBR do for 2019 / 2020 though ? they won't have Renault , and I cannot believe that Aston Martin will develop an engine for the sake of 1 or 2 years max as the regs are due to change for 2021.
According to SKY , the Brazilian gp is in danger , money ! , and possibly Argentina to take over . I really like the Brazil circuit .
When it was anmounced that Honda were going to supply engines to McClaren, half of you were creaimg your pants It is too difficult for an engine manufacturer to just come in and get anywhere near the manufacturers who gabe been honing units for years, even with brutal regulation changes. Aston Martin will definitely not be making engines, and if they did it would be no better than Honda. Eventually Honda will either gwlet their act together or leave, and I hope it's the former... until then, good look RBR
Honda started off this season worse than they did last season, but they have definitely made a lot more gains over the course of this year. Their big problem has been the harvesting and deployment of the ERS, I thik they'll be pretty much on top of that by next years pre-season, and the worse your engine is at the start, the more gains you'll make. It'll still be the worst engine on the grid, but I don't think it'll be that far off Renault at the start of next season.
Williams . As you probably know Williams are my favourite tem . What the hell do they do driver for next season ? I was not aware that they have to have a 25 year old ( or older ) driver due to their Martini deal . Kubica ? Can't see it myself , surely they won't keep Massa . Paul di Resta ? Anyone else ?????
Wehrlein or Ocon would have been perfect with their mercedes partnership. but I think it can only be between Massa, Kubica or Alonso. but I think they should keep it a one year deal because I can see a lot of drivers moving next year. Im not sure the 2 red bull drivers will want to be in the Red Bull Honda and Raikkonen will surely retire. So If williams look like they are moving up they could snap up one of the fall outs.
