Trouble is, because it's Ferrari instead of listening to their technical arguments, all you hear is "wah wah, boo hoo".
For me the rules should be clear and black and white. If you don't comply you're excluded, if you design around the rules fair play.
they banned Lotus's (or was it Renault) ride-height controller, which was just a liquid filled cavity, if that got banned then FRICS should defo have been banned, that they've banned it now really stinks IMO.
Indeed, all of them were ultimately outlawed but the teams running them allowed to keep the results as at the time they were running them they were either not illegal, or infiltrated a grey area in the rules that was subsequently cleared up. Same with Renault's mass damper system.
Just seen on ITV that Silverstone may stop hosting the British GP. To which Bernie replied "Theres nothing we can do, and two other tracks have contacted me"....
There's literally nothing poor Bernie can do. What could be possibly expect from him, to go without a 5th yacht? Madness. Between Sky exclusivity and the potential to lose Silverstone...There's a very real chance of F1 not surviving this decade in the UK.
Manor enter administration: Manor Racing enter administration and are on brink of collapse Manor Racing have gone into administration and will collapse without new investment. A source close to the team told BBC Sport that staff were informed of the development on Friday. Manor and owner Stephen Fitzpatrick were unavailable for comment. The UK-based team, who finished 11th and last in the championship last season, have been in talks with new investors but so far no deal has been concluded. The source said several buyers had been lined up over the past few weeks and two had gone as far as conducting a due diligence process. But none provided the funds necessary to buy the team, nor was there any proof they had the money to run it. Owner Fitzpatrick, the boss of the energy company Ovo, decided to put the team into administration on Thursday night and staff were told by chief executive officer Thomas Mayer and administrators FGRP on Friday morning. The administrators are continuing attempts to keep the team afloat ahead of the start of the new season in Australia on 26 March. FRP were also appointed the last time the Oxfordshire-based team were in administration over the winter of 2014/15, after they collapsed with debts of £35m. At the time, the team were known as Marussia, and were reconstituted under their original name of Manor when Fitzpatrick bought them at the 11th hour just before the 2015 campaign. Manor suffered a blow at the end of last season when Sauber moved ahead of them into 10th place in the constructors' championship thanks to the ninth place achieved by Felipe Nasr at the penultimate race of the year in Brazil. That cost Manor in the region of £10m in prize money - income they needed to survive into the new season - and has made potential drivers and their backers reluctant to commit funds to the team, sources said. Fitzpatrick said at the final race of the season in Abu Dhabi that the loss of income was "not a deal-breaker" in the talks he was having with new investors. But there had been no further news from the team until Friday's development. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/38530855
Possibly explains why there have been no driver announcements from them knowing they were in financial trouble. Again just shows the inequality between the teams on the grid and the split of TV and commercial monies.
It's not really Bernie's fault that Manor are folding, it's simply the financial nature of popular professional sports, especially in motor-racing and football. To be up there you have to spend, not because of Bernie but because that's what all your competitors are doing. in fact, where motor racing is concerned it doesn't even have to be professional, there are few truly equal categories in motor-racing, even the junior 'off-the-shelf' Kart classes where everyone must have the same equipment isn't. How much do you want to spend to your 12yr old's engine tuning? 700 or 70,000, if you have the money you'll have more chance of being successful. I really hope they find away to fund for next year, I imagine they're looking for 2 well sponsored juniors drivers like they had last year. As to the threat of Silverstone being dropped, meh, this happens every few years, it's a bit of posturing to get a discount, they've decided to do the take-away as Liberty media's plan is to keep the historic tracks in the championship.
If a team like HRT or caterham who lingered solidly at the back folds then I dont have simpathy, But Manor did really well this year and pushed for points and getting out of Q1. So Is the payment ladder fair to them? They provided some entertainment and discussion for viewers (More than boring old Mercedes at the front) Roll on Liberty who hopefully will be the savior of the sport. I reckon they will franchise the sports teams like NFL
It's not entirely Bernie's fault, but we do need to say that the way F1 distributes it's money is stupid. Manor were probably killed in Brazil when they lost 10th place after a race long dual between Nasr and Ocon. Is that right? I think it's an outdated system based on the "pre-qualifying" days of their being a long list of teams wanting to join F1. This absence won't get plugged for years. This was the first season in which i felt Manor really belonged in F1. They sometimes made Q2, could battle cars that weren't 2010 new teams, and scored a legitimate point. For their demise to come now is very sad.
Very sad that Manor seem to have run out of options. I really hope for the staff and fans they can come back but I doubt it. It annoys me that Sauber took 10th after all their underhanded dealing with drivers etc. I know they have great history but their behaviour was not professional at all and I think in other sports they might have been accused of bring the sport in to disrepute. If Manor had managed 10th I think they would have survived. Manor really did seem to be on the up. Hope all the staff get jobs quickly. Roll on a fairer distribution of money amongst the teams.
