What a great weekend before testing. Pretty aggressive effort from Ferrari- I wonder how things are different under the bonnet though, as that may hold the key. Interesting short nose- like a hybrid of Torro Rosso and of all people, McHonda. All will become clear pretty soon! Up next, McLaren launch?
Those terrifying words from Mercedes that they have aimed for "optimisation absolutely everywhere". I'd like to see both cars in a bit more detail from different angles. I think we all realise that we can only know about Mclarens chassis when we begin to understand if Honda has closed the gap and built an engine that works and that deploys its electrical boosts.
The cars are looking much more beautiful this year, as for Mercedes I am not really holding any hopes. This car is simply an evolution of the last. Expect more dominance.
They look awesome to be quite honest. I think the cars are a big step forward from two years ago when we launched the new Formula. I just wish McLaren had a different colour scheme- I'd quite like to see them switch the racesuits and the car colours the other way around. The champagne white could tie in quite nicely with Chandon. When you see the actual close ups of the McLaren, there's a LOT of hidden detail- it's a massive aero effort from them- I just hope they have a power unit that can propel it into battle now.
From a design perspective they look great, but I just don;t like the liveries at all.The McLaren looks like someone has made an airfix model and not bothered with half the transfers, I've never liked the turquoise and black, almost any other colour would look good between the silver and black. Edit: The Hass has just been posted, their livery is much easier on my eye
Funnily enough Ern I was thinking the Merc livery is the nicest I have seen the silver and turquoise look. I'm also not a fan of the turquoise (especially on the wheels) as it looks sort of 80s to me, but this year it's in a nice tidy band on the lower part of the sidepod and doesn't look too bad. I would also prefer it without though!
Great bit of in car footage of new Merc at Silverstone. I wish Bernie would get his cameras in this position.Really gives an idea of what driver sees and how jerky the gear changes are.
Who are the teams hiring for liveries? To be fair though, they're a reflection of the sport as a whole. Gray and dull. Somebody pass me the crayons!
I'm a bit disappointed, I was hoping for a yellow Hass. Good to see more teams are dropping the thumb penis from their cars, but there's still a clumsy look about certain areas of them. Granted the cars will look very different before race one but still...
not long now, we should've done a 'who's car will do the fewest laps before it conks out' few choices, I'll go for RBR
