He's so full of s**t it's unbelievable... He and the rich teams have equal responsibility in this. As usual, he's trying to pass it off as somebody else's problem. He bribes his way out of crap for more money than these teams survive off. He's milked the sport dry. He needs to go!
Yup. This little 'admission' is going to wash for a little while and make it seem like he's doing something but when push comes to shove he and the big teams aren't going to loosen their belts in the slightest. And you know that if he does come up with some kind of 'solution' it'll still push the sport further towards improving his status and away from what the sport actually needs - some resemblance of democracy.
I couldn't agree more. Just more games and cheap politicking from Ecclestone, especially after saying only on Friday that he didn't want teams "with begging bowls" in F1. This crisis is real and requires real action urgently. While the big teams undoubtedly share the blame for this, along with the mysterious CVC, the responsibility for showing some genuine leadership and dealing with it lies with Ecclestone because, quite simply, that's his job. Then again, where is Todt in all of this? He really is the invisible president but it's his job too.
But to be fair, Ericsson has been very, very good the past 4 or 5 races, but totally agree that over the season he's not shown enough consistency to warrant a drive anywhere else, especially a better seat. The big concerning sign was when other drivers were just showing up and trouncing him in the same car, no matter how tricky it was to drive before they changed it, that should never have happened. Chilton (whisper this), gets unfair criticism on here. Yeah, he's only there because of his daddy's money and there are other more talented drivers out there he keeps off the grid, but he's not and absolute disaster type pay driver by any means, whilst Bianchi comfortably beat him overall, we all know how highly rated he is and tbf to Max, he generally was acceptably near the pace of him more often than not. Compare that to Esteban Gutierrez, who is also only there because of his backing, has had a significantly better car for most of his career, has been involved in several very costly incidents for the team (quite a few of them just down to a complete lack of concentration from him when he has got into a half decent position), has shown little or nothing in the way of pure pace in 2 years, been slaughtered by one highly rated team mate and even when he gets one he is more evenly matched with, when the car does finally get there, Sutil sticks it in the top 10, Gutierrez takes the car up to the heady heights of 16th. Hopefully he's finished with F1.
@JensonButton: P12 today but I don't give a duck, good times coming. #JB22 roll on Interlagos http://t.co/p7b9qcj8NP
It's very obvious he's out now. Such a shame Mclaren have survived up **** for two years and then decided to treat Jenson like it. He deserved much better for his performances this year.
Was never a fan of JBs to start with.. but must admit, I've warmed to him over the years. Agree, that McLaren have given him a piece of **** for the last two years, he's proven with them from 2010-2012, give him a decent car and he'll deliver a fair few wins, great drives and a shed load of points and help himself and the team be in contention for the WCC and WDC. Hope he pulls a rabbit out of the bag and gets a drive next year, maybe Ferrari, who could be right royally pissed off with Kimi's performances and replace him with JB?
So the Pitlanetalk twitter account which broke this whole Alonso to McLaren saga and said they would delete their account if they were wrong... have deleted the account. Strange. Could be them being honest they said it was signed and negotiations are still ongoing, or could Alonso still surprise us here?
...Well, if Williams can recover from a team of Maldonado and Bruno Senna then maybe there's hope for Sauber yet.
Lets hope so, but it's a bit of a gamble with the lineup if it's true. A slap in the face for Palmer too, he beats Nasr to the GP2 title yet may have no F1 drive unlike his rival.
Sauber F1 Team ‏@SauberF1Team We are pleased to announce Felipe Nasr as driver for 2015 and Banco do Brasil as partner: http://www.sauberf1team.com/en/ @felipenasr @BancodoBrasil Confirmed now
Wow, Poor Van der Gaarde. He was pretty much signed up as reserve with the promise of a Sauber drive for '15.
