By the way, there will be no (K)ERS button anymore in the 2014 cars. Drivers can still gain some extra power with a "kickdown"-like feature on the gas pedal. The regular ERS-power will be delivered/spent through the engine mapping.
I think the way it's going to be used next year is better, it's more authentic, like a proper hybrid engine. I'm guessing the kickdown thing is basically an override so they can use it manually (tactically) to overtake, which I also like.
A bit llike how DRS should've been. I wonder if they could limit how much it could be charged over a lap but let it charge limitlessly, so you could theoretically charge it over, say 6 laps, and then go hell for leather for 2 or 3, tht would give it more of the late 70's early 80's turbo feel, which I think is what they really want to get back to.
I like some of these thoughts above. I also believe the planned use of (K)ERS will be better than at present, especially since there will be a big jump in its contribution; and agree with Miggins that DRS might have been used to better effect.
Rumours are coming out that Hulkenburg has had his contract cancelled at Sauber. Not sure how much salt to take with this but I'd love to see him at Lotus.
Yeah apparently he hasn't been paid for a couple of months. Bit daft if true, no one is going to pick him up midseason but Sauber are desperate for cash and if someone like Kobayashi or Razia could cobble together a significant amount of money Sauber would have to consider replacing Hulk. I can't Lotus happening, they'd have to pay Hulk and they'd lose Grosjean's Total money, they're having difficulties of their own right now.
If I win the euromillions I'd probably get a drive at a top F1 team... Might be better than some of them as well
Not sure if it was posted, but Sauber have so little money they stopped developing next years car, which is very worrying.
I do hope Sauber don't go, that would be a real shame, but of the teams this year they have probably made the greatest retrograde step, tied with Williams - they seem to have been especially badly hit by the tyres this year. Feel sorry for Hulk, who clearly thought he'd be fighting for podiums and has ended up scrapping for 11th and 12th places.
Formula 1 News ‏@Formula_F1_News 3h Strong rumours in the paddock today that Raikkonen has signed a two-year deal with Red Bull. #F1 #germangp Formula 1 News ‏@Formula_F1_News 3h Some of our sources are suggesting this will be announced at Monza. #F1 #germangp Formula 1 News ‏@Formula_F1_News 3h It has also been highlighted that Hulkenberg is looking for a way out of Sauber after their financial worries. #F1 #germangp Meanwhile Marca are reporting that the deal is almost done and there are only little details left.
He brings £10m+ apparently. He's driven pretty well this year generally, hasn't had the luck and often hasn't had the upgrades his team mate's had. Of course Hulkenberg is a better driver, but moving teams midseason he wouldn't do as well as Grosjean and they'd lose money. Hopefully Hulk will join them when Raikkonen goes to Red Bull.
According to Ben Edwards, Sauber haven't been able to pay all of Hulk's wages, so it's credit to him that he's still turning up and giving it his all even when he's barely getting paid for it. Hulk keeps going up in my book, he's a class act.
Nico sounded like he got in Lewis' way on purpose and refused team orders, or so the guys on Autosport reckon. Either way, IT HAS BEGUN!
