He left Lotus whilst closing in on a Ferrari deal so I'd be surprised if he then decided to go somewhere else, especially after he rejected McLaren. I think his destination is Ferrari: Formula 1 News ‏@Formula_F1_News 30 May According to German media, James Allison is set to join Ferrari on a four-year deal, and this will be confirmed before around Monza. #F1
I just think it makes sense. Ferrari, Mercedes and McLaren don't need him really. Red Bull is a possibility if Newey goes. And will Newey retire? Maybe he will have his swan song at Ferrari. Also why is it taking that long to confirm the move to Ferrari?
Hands off Ferrari, Nico is ours! http://www.microsofttranslator.com/...menicali-lobt-nico-rosberg-30757158.bild.html
The way Nico is driving at the moment, I think he will have a hatful of offers next season, Merc, Ferrari, Redbull & Lotus.
They need money. He has it. I disagree with Silver though, i don't think Hulk will go to Lotus, they need a pay driver (Grosjean currently takes that role). Plus his stock is falling this season, i can see him being stuck in a Sauber, much like Sutil is stuck in a FI.
I can see this help Kubica return and go to Williams. They've just got Mercedes engines and the Mercedes are helping him return so why not? Kimi to Red Bull, Maldo to Lotus, Kubica to Williams! I'm sure everyone would love to see that too
nah Lotus is the kind of team that needs 1 big pay driver with talent and one with WDC potential. Hulk and Maldonado would secure their future. Maldonado could cover Kimi and Grosjean's funding and Hulk is yet to hit his best IMO.
Fixed! It's about time Pastor got a decent drive, Williams are not providing value for money. And Hulk is wasted in this year's Sauber.
Now that Vettel is ruled out of Ferrari, the candidates appear to be: Massa, Hulkenburg, Rosberg, Bianchi If they're waiting at least two years for Vettel, Massa would make no sense. I don't think Rosberg would want to leave Mercedes while he has the better of Hamilton. So how much potential do they see in Bianchi? Enough to choose him over the more experienced Hulkenburg?
Who said that? Mercedes didn't specify the contract length other than saying it would keep him there "through to 2013 and beyond", which sounds to me like he has options after 2013. Not that it really matters though, why would Rosberg want to leave Mercedes?
Ferrari will probably retain Massa again. His performance is no worse than it's been for the three years previous. I think they're happy to base the team around Alonso and a driver of Rosberg, Hulk quality would threaten that too much. Long term Bianchi should be there but he's not ready yet.
Bild: "The major German daily Bild reported on Thursday that Nico Rosberg's new Mercedes deal is for the next four years and will earn him almost EUR 50 million by 2015. Bild says, with his new contract reportedly running through 2015, Nico Rosberg "will earn around EUR 12 million" per season." Other sources say it's until 2016 but that has a clause in it. Like I said, you aint getting him
I'm sure Rosberg would jump at the chance to join Ferrari. Apparently every driver wants to drive for them. He'd still be on decent money, you'd have to say they're more likely to be competitive long term. He's going to have it tough with his team mate wherever he is so I don't think Alonso would faze him too much. He speaks fluent Italian so there's no problem there. Contracts don't really mean a lot to Ferrari, by the sound of it it would cost â¬25m to break his Mercedes contract. If they really wanted him they'd pay that. The thing is, Hulkenberg's available for free. Why pay for Rosberg when Hulk's available?
