The demo came out yesterday for Xboxers, today for US PSN'ers. And people like me in the EU PS3 have to wait for tomorrow. I really do hate CM..
I hear the demo is available to download today, anyone done so yet? If so, initial thoughts, like 2010 but not the penalties and AI was weak. Wanted to like 2011 but (not having a wheel) using a joypad to control the car, always found it "tricky" to setup all the buttons for DRS and Kers and the like.. If 2012 is better, I may invest in a wheel..
You'll find it very sensitive compared to 2011. And this game is being built around the controller so once again CM hate people with wheels and fewer assists.
Yes, they have. Back to the controller topic, my controller lap (first time i used it on a racing game in atleast 6 months) was 1.5 seconds faster than my wheel lap. That's just ridiculous.
DRS is ok, but I don't like the kers button being above my brake, I kept hitting th brake instead, more sensitive than 2010 I thought, although I did only have the default setup, which I general hate as it doesn't suit me, would like to try a wheel on it though to see the difference it makes, easy to put down too much power on a ps3 copntroller, didn't notice any gfx problems, although I guess we'll have to wait until we go through the swimming pool at Monaco to see, but I think it'll still be ****ed, X-box will probably be better.
No you wouldnt. I've cancelled my pre-order because they've ****ed it up. A couple of championship contenders and myself in my league have all tested it and the controller is a second faster than the wheel, and no assists is 1.5 slower than with. So i'm already 2.5 seconds down on others all because CM are one-minded pieces of **** who dont deserve my money.
I actually thought it was ok, but i was using a controller with assists. I probably won't buy it though, i'm after FIFA and Forza instead.
The game has matured, I am glad wheel drivers don't have an advantage anymore. Finally I am at an advantage for a year.
This isn't the point though...surely the game should be equally difficult independent of controller? Neither group should have an advantage.
The game seems ok from the demo, the rear end is less stable due to the ban on ebd. The engine also sounds are better especially when you accelerate from a stationary position, they nailed that one. However from a graphics point of view it seems identical from 2011 which is a bit dissapointing and you still dont get the tyres smoking when you lock a break (something they never seem to correct). Think I will wait till it drops in price, too many other good games coming out in october / november.
The wheel never had an advantage on any game but CE. I know this as I used a controller on all games and changed to wheel at the start of this year, and my lap times were the exact same.
Ahh, but some of my mates are now complaining that they are no longer fast. Whereas I can maintain my average pace.
Played the demo. It was good fun, albiet i am struggling to see the big changes worth a purchase immediately with so many good games coming out. Probably get it to cure off-season blues when the price drops in january. I dont think any game on a yearly release cycle will ever be perfect, but Codemasters are good at consistantly churning out 8/10s
