Sorry Pep/Varane - I'm glad refs are now adding minutes for time wasting.
Pep moaned about the added time in the 2nd half in the Charity Shield. Making fewer subs might help.
Varane bemoans the extra fatigue, ffs get a grip.

It's about time the FA sorted time wasting, up to now spectators have been shortchanged.
While they're at it I'd yellow card every player throwing in from the wrong place. The PNE full back delayed and then gained 25yards right in front of me Saturday.

There is a point to that. Ball rolling time was already high. Higher than the eighties, nineties etc. If all stoppages are added to increase ball rolling time the game lasts two hours.
 
Watching Sky Sports on Saturday and waiting for the results to roll in is becoming a farce now the EFL has adopted this stupid ball in play time

Gone are the days of the results, bar a few stragglers for major injuries or floodlight failure etc being in by 16.55

In the months to come games will hit well over 115 minutes I reckon.

Might as well round it up to 2 hour games now

Yet another needless rule change and attempt to further ruin the game for no reason along with the useless VAR and the idiots who monitor it and who even with the benefit of 1000 replays and angles still can’t get it right

Games lasted over 110 minutes at the weekend.

Totally disagree.
Seems it may frustrate folk who watch the TV results. However those at the game who have to put up with teams who deliberately waste time will appreciate the change. Pretty sure within a few games these who cheat and frustrate will realise they're wasting their own time.
And you'll be back to normal watching results come through on the box at 5pm.

I’m with you 100% on this RP.
The mild irritation of watching the results come in late on SSN is nothing compared to watching the opposition drag out every stoppage when playing our team.
Agreed we (City) have been guilty of it too - everyone has, but let’s hope these new rules will render that particular form of ****housery pointless and teams will not bother doing it.
If you want to wind the clock down, do it by keeping possession whilst the ball is in play.

De Bruyne is another bemoaning the physical and mental (ffs mental !!) toll if they play a bit longer.
FIVE substitutions for each team are now allowed and seem happy to get subbed off but don't want to play the time it takes to make each of possible TEN substitutions in ONE half.
Trouble is they're believing their own hype about the rigours of the game.
If keeper's and those who take forever to throw the ball in stopped wasting time there wouldn't be any need to add extra time other than for genuine injury.
For once I agree with the FA trying to stop cheating time wasters to the detriment of the faithful watching football at AG.

I agree, no sympathy with the over pampered and paid PL starts whining about fatigue from me either.

goal keepers might be the next in line to be looked at maybe a time limit on how long to keep hold of the ball, the ball not having gone out of play .. maybe 2 clocks one at each end visible to goalie that after say 10 seconds starts to add on ET starting with 10 seconds on the clock

Not sure if it was just me, but Sat there seemed to be far less time wasting going on, it was helped by multi ball as well mind, but just 6 mins added time, seemed about right, if they realise times going to be added on anyway is there really any point in drawing things out. It was getting ridiculous.

The point is they won’t play longer, the game is supposed to be 90 mins, they won’t be playing longer, they’ll be playing the correct time.
If players realise the less time wasting and play acting they do the less added on time they’re be, it might actually encourage them to stop doing it in the first place.
The paying public pay to watch 90 mins of action, not 50 mins of football and 40 mins of play acting, we go to the theatre for that.

I’m sure there has been several rules over the years, there was a maximum time in terms of seconds before the ball had to be released, I think it was one of those rules that wasn’t applied, like obstruction, time wasting and disrespecting, and arguing with the officials.

Physical load is a problem for modern players. They are running at present distances that footballers have not achieved previously. Ball rolling time has increased. This is not the eighties.

Man City have the highest ball rolling time (approaching an average of sixty minutes) in the Premiership and their midfielders cover amongst the furthest distances (11 - 13KM). The additional time added on in increasing the physical load by 1km+. Players will now run unprecedented distances over a game. Increased injury is logical and there is no evidence base to consult. This is an experiment.
