I'm totally disillusioned with the UK. Maybe it's because I've had a lot of time off recently and I have had time to really visit a lot of it and I've realized it's a ****ing dump. I've been to London before doing the tourist stuff but 2 weeks ago I spent a few days there staying at a mates house and **** me it's an awful place. I'm ashamed to call it our capital. I thought areas of Hull were bad at night, but Jesus Christ. I felt safer walking through the streets of Rio de janeiro. The economy is about to take another nose dive and there's the worst famine in 70 years happening in Africa, all the British public care about is what Jordan has done to her boobs and who is going to be on Xfactor. I'm not suprised our Parents/Grandparents moan about ,"Kids these days", because from my view the majority of our generation are twats. This sums it up perfectly for me: We're the middle children of history. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our great war is a spiritual war. Our great depression is our lives. We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars, but we won't. We're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed off. .
feel better now N ? city life is the same in most countries. the years ive spent in amsterdam and paris you learn its not much different to london. you get your posh parts and your dirty parts... its just how it is.
Congrats, Febbos. Hopefully meet you at the Brighton game. Edit - About time I changed the profile pic. Just need to stop this czech keyboard from throwing up random accents and punctuation.
When do you start mate? How's the house/ flat search going? You should be fine. Stoke is very central and travelling to other cities is quite easy. Just don't expect our cities to be as picturesque as that vid makes Stockholm seem.
I'll fly over next sunday. The company will pay for my accomodation And I don't expect that much from Stoke But as you said it's central, which always is a big +.
Febbos, when I was studying in Stoke I couldn't bring myself to live there (I tried it for one year), so I stayed in Knutsford, Cheshire which is about 30 minutes drive away. I don't know whether your new employers require you to live within a certain mile radius of work, or if they provide a car, but it is something you might want to consider.
I forgot to add my congrats. The UK is miserable in general. I could rant on about that as well, but I'm off to watch us batter Blackpool. Wahay!
Congrats on the job Febbos, hope you get to see a few City games. UK like any other country you will see good and bad. Enjoy the experience/opportunity.
But I reckon that most other cities would say that about other cities as well? I don't have a drivers licence, so that won't help really
Missed this thread, but congratulations Febbos! Be warned though. For every one of these: please log in to view this image There's 1,000 of these: please log in to view this image
