A mate of mine at our golf club was on the Tottenham list and was offered a ticket a few years back. He had to decline due to his financial circumstances and every year since he has had his offer repeated. Chelsea's system is fairer and based on a loyalty points system. The fact we don't have a waiting list because of this is meaningless.

Rubbish. Chelsea's hardcore following is and always has been larger than Spurs.

Even in the 2nd division (when you were in the 1st) we still took more fans away and our away following was only exceded by that of United and Liverpool.

Away support IMO is a better measure of a clubs hardcore following as the more hardcore fans will go to away games as well as or instead of home games, especially nowadays

Spurs would not fill out a 41k stadium like we do and the waiting list is as much bollocks as the supposed 20m fans you have worldwide <ok>

    your average gates 1995 21,000
    1994 19,000
Through the whole 80,s you averaged only 18,000.
One year your average was 15,000

Any neutral would not regard you as a natural organic big club. The facts are proof and disturbing. I agree money buys you your position to eat
    at the big table.

It is well known football attendances all over the country declined in the 80s partly due to the economic downturn, violence and then Heysel etc.

Had one to many down the old "Cock and Bull" again.
I agree that Thatcher's 80's was a hard time for football, but some clubs crowds held up a lot better than others showing a larger traditional fan base.

Thank you Ginger for your kind words. If we are all being honest the game could be anyone's on the day.

As a neutral southern based football supporter who wants whoever wins today to go on and win the trophy I wish both teams well and hope for a game that gives the neutral something worth watching perhaps a repeat of the 4-4 draw from a few seasons back would be good. I have posted here before and I do have a liking for factual accuracy, for 10 successive seasons Chelsea have averaged the bigger home crowds 41,116 to 35,690 (ground capacity being close to achieved by both clubs) if we look back over a longer period (35 years!) Spurs average 31,463 and Chelsea 28,309 and the lowest seasons average over this period is 20,859 (1986 for Spurs) and 12,672 (1983 for Chelsea). Anyway make what you will of that and enjoy the game

Fair point ashford. But why only go back 35 years? Chelsea had bigger attendances in 20s 30s 40s, some of 50s and 60s; and early 70s.

    Overall averages are closer 32k v 33500

Any idea when the Chelsea fans are turning up? Atleast the Spurs fans seem to have found the stadium without a problem <whistle>
