I'm interested in hearing what fans actually expect from next season. The league is very competitive and our aims other than avoiding relegation seem quite vague with no transfers yet to indicate what our intentions might be.

1) Consolidate

2) Keep our best players together and build a top quality Championship club

3) Play exciting Football and push for the play-offs would be a bonus

4) Nice FA Cup run

I think we'd need to get very lucky, even with the 2-3 signings that people are talking about on here, to challenge for the play offs. For that to happen imo we would need to have pretty much an injury free season and players would have to perfom to the best of their ability every game. I think a realistic goal this season is to finish between 18th and 12th.

at first i thought we could 'do a norwich' then reality set in, we havent signed anyone, leicester signed everyone, birmingham and west ham actually got half decent managers, as did forest, cardiff say they actually have money and after all that i seem to have taken stock and think at the very best could push playoffs, however wouldnt be too upset with mid table so long as its upper echelons and we are buildings nice and steady. (oh and beat the skates of course)

With the squad as it stands, I think that we could emulate Millwall's post promotion season and finish in a comfortable mid-table position. If Chambo goes then I still think that we are strong enough, but if, as I suspect, we sign a couple of first team quality players and a few back ups to bolster the squad, then I feel that we could push on towards the playoffs. It will be interesting to see what transfer dealings might occur if we are in the top six in January, will NC push the boat out and go for it or will he settle for steady progress and build a Premier League squad gradually.

Consolidate, and get used to the Championship

I don't mean to bash our own fans, but I think many fans are expecting too much from the team, which could result in a negative attitiude if things aren't going right for the team in comparision to how people are wanting us to do, which in turn would make the team suffer, I think as fans, we should be realistic this season, and consolidate

This.

I give it five games until the first Adkins out thread.

12-18th

We must be realistic and see that a mid table position will be a good season. I'll be hoping that we are constantly mid table team and not one in the bottom four or five until April, winning four games and sneaking up into 12th spot.

Obvious statement, but winning odd games in this league is better than drawing lots in an unbeaten run. I'd rather win two in six than go five unbeaten and lose one.

My previous comment was an answer to where I think we could finish with or without transfers, I would actually be delighted if we consolidated next season.
Nicola Cortese is an ambitious man and I'm sure that he would want to see us get promoted sooner, rather than later, that's why I feel that the long term team building for the Premier League will start this summer.

When you look at the size of some of the clubs in this division- the likes of birmingham & west ham who've come down, cardiff & forest who were in the play-off mix last time, leicester busy bringing people in... There's a lot of clubs vying for precious few play-off/promotion spots, so realistically I'd be happy to consolidate our place back in the championship & finish in a decent top-half spot. The oft-stated '5 year plan' will allow for a couple of seasons in the championship...

With the squad as it is, I think 12-16th is realistic, although it could also be 17-21st. Can't see us going down with the current squad. Although the prediction is subject to change depending on who we sign. However, I would basically be happy with 21st, and anything above that is a bonus.
