What a season from the Eddies boys! Surpassed just about every expectation of them this year. I was hoping top half finish and a decent Cup run but to qualify for CL finishing in the top 4 (with a game to spare) and a Cup final day out at Wembley is just ridiculous looking back at it. What are people expectations next year? Obviously it depends on the recruitment over the summer but right now, what would you be expecting next season? Seen a lot of media outlets suggesting the Toon Army will be expecting trophies and to run the title close but personally I'd still see 5/6th as a good second season under the new owners and management if accompanied by another decent cup run especially in the CL. Think the extra games will make a bit of an impact on the league form but if Eddie could cement a top 4 position next year that would be abso-****ing-lutely amazing!
We're moving forward, so the owners will look for progress from this season. I'm going for top 4 again, so Champions League. I predicted 4th this season, and it's come good (with still a chance for 4th), so my predictions are good, like.
With the additional games I would expect us to struggle getting used to it but assuming we strengthen think 6th is a decent expectation to have and would be happy with that finish Of course I hope we win every damn game we play, unrealistic? Yes but that's what hope is for
Think it may be a season of consolidation next year - we've overperformed this year and our squad is so thin. Playing European games on top of things will take its toll - just look at West Ham this season. I still think a solid top-half league season would be no bad thing. Players will know we can qualify for the CL and the 'project' is much more real than it used to be. I'd rather be cautious in the transfer market and take an extra season to start to really challenge the big boys than blow cash on mercenaries that destroy the amazing team ethos Eddie has built.
I've not completed the survey based on definition, but here are my thoughts: I hope for top 4 / Champions League again. Of course you can hope / wish to aim high. But in itself, that's not a demand or expectation. I predict top 8. This is what I think is still a reasonable finish next season, when the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool are most likely back in the frame and we are contending with the additional CL midweek games. I 'expect' the club to keep trying to do its best and to continue to improve. I revert to the previous 'demands' of the fans of wanting a club that tries. I think we now truly have that and it's all we can genuinely 'expect'. So yes, my hopes have been raised, but not my expectations/demands.
Went top 5 as I think after getting into the champions league this season we need to keep the pressure on those around us and replicate it. Im nearly sure top 5 does get CL qualification next season?
Liverpool and Chelsea will be significantly better than this season, Man U will probably sign Kane and be better as a result, and City will be clear favourites for the title again. That said we can still compete with Liverpool, Chelsea and Man U, so anything from 2nd to 5th is plausible. I can see Arsenal falling away a bit after blowing the title so spectacularly this season, and Spurs will definitely be worse as Kane will be leaving.
Why? Everyone seems to assume this will be so. Liverpool will have to invest heavily and get it right. One is semi guaranteed but the second one is not. Chelsea will have to appoint the right manager and then identify which players from their inflated squad should be kept and then mold them into a team. Again, not guaranteed.
