    1. lucas is lacking stamina and it shows in how good we play for 70mins then fade. i think him not being able to keep pace along with gerrard v the arsenal boys PLUS rodgers tkaing off sturridge did for us that day.

    2. There are better players than lucas guys... come on.. lets not kid ourselves there are. Good player, great attitude etc but someone's got to say he's not exactly the worlds greatest midfielder. lets not just pull on red tinted glasses here. however getting a bette rplayer for our budge tis not possible is it.

    3. i do expect him to improve a lot over the next 3 months.

Just as everything I would look for competition: go for steel in Diame, Fer, type player or skill in a banega type player. I still think we need to improve our defence and whether Reina stays or goes, need to sort that out. Stekelenberg would be a good shout and he wants out of Roma.

I think it would make sense to specifically train one of the Academy players as cover for Lucas because who is going to come in and sit on the bench? So Coady for example could come in and train with Lucas learn what he does and we would then have a ready made replacement and someone who is happy to play his part.

Isn't there a ghanian or someone like that in that role right now? Think with the u18's? Where is Redbrynner when you need him.

I don't know, but it would make sense to train academy players for specific positions like this. It would mean that not only do we get another first team player but a first team player that we need.

We have another Suso type in that squad as well, not sure how much he plays but he is Nacho from Spain. <laugh>

you guys would seriously write a world squad or world 11 and put lucas in there as DM then?

all i'm saying is the vast majority of non red's would not be so sure about that... thats not saying he's not an excellent player but lets not just call him world class just because... surely you see i can call a man in red good but not have to call him world class.

as to training an academy player to the position, well i think it's kind of hard. at academy level just doing this would limit a player. but if you took a player like coady who's already through that and now not developing really and put him on the task he could get so far and then need games to really get the positioning and the "dirty work" thats needed.

basically players need games i guess....

lucas = one of our best and key players but lets not kid ourselves that there's not a better player out ther cos there's always a better player.

its like agger... people love the guy.. i love the guy but he's bloody sloppy too.

fair enough cos its all about opinion.

I'd have to say that to name a few i'd still have alonso on the list cos his work is phenominal. Mascherano is all action but plays cb for the mad catalans but he would be one that i'd think about but its'd be close now between him and lucas.

I'd say that the following would be up there...

Busquets... bit of a diver but he's quality.

Schweinsteiger is more than just defensive like alsonso in that repsect. he's pivotal to bayern

Javi Martinez....Di rossi..... Khederia.... vidal. M'vila

in short i think its fair to say there are quite expensive guys out there who are top of the class but its also pretty interesting to note that if you said best in england i'd not argue. <ok>

I mean lets be frank yaya toure aint playing that role for city is he? parker, mikel? honeslty lucas would be the top of the pile in england right now once he is fit. yes he's excellent but i'd have a few others in my world squad.

    (but captain material no question)

Honestly guys LFC have one world class player in suarez and one guy in gerrard who would be on that list when he was 28/29. Lucas isn't world class at this point. for me having even one is great due to where we are cos we'd all like to be up there with bayern and real and barca but we are not we are only trying to get back itno the compeittion they play in!...

    I maybe would.

For Premier League I think I probably would.

There are a lot of hard tackling, patrolling DM's out there but a lot of them lack the passing range. Others just give away to many free kicks because they are to physical/aggressive.

I'd say Lucas is a better player than Mascerano was for us. He is cleaner in a tackle and passes the ball a lot better.

Glen Johnson is one of the very best full backs in the world.

One of the problems with comparing him is the lack of players that do that specific role and then also do it well. Busquets is good at the breaking up of play but lacks the passing and vision that Lucas has, Khederia is a good shout but Martinez again lacks the passing.

It is opinion though and some may not agree with me.
