What a kick in the teeth. Still, every point is important. 1-1 would have been a good result before the game.
To concede so late in the game - 20 seconds before the final whistle - is so disappointing, and unacceptable.
Accrington, Torquay, Northampton and Bury have 2 games in hand over us. Wycombe and Bristol R have a game in hand over us. We're 4 points ahead of Torquay. We're in trouble.
Just found the following newsflash........"Armed police officers and several other police units have this afternoon attended a property off of Blackgang Road near Chale. Police were called to the scene at around 15:10 prompting over 7 police vehicles to rush to a property on the public footpath C10 between Chale and Blackgang Chine. It is currently unclear as to the specifics of the incident". Probably due to the late return of a Library book, as I said earlier.......
I read through this topic without knowing the final score. Ouch! We conceded two equalisers so I guess we were worse.
Sick and tired of this ****. Is this the worst Portsmouth team in the last ten years (adjusted for the level each team played at)? I'd say yes. Pathetic jokers.
Lads played well today. All gave 100% calm and composed in midfield despite groggy pitch and gale force winds. Exeter threw everything at us second half with the wind behind them and got their break with twenty seconds left. 4 minutes time added on instead of the 1-2 I'd expected didn't help but any way, missed two huge chances to have the game dead and burried as well. Its a point away from home that most of us would have taken this morning and a point away should be all you need if only a bunch of delusional dreamers didn't sit there at fratton to whinge moan and abuse our own squad making it a disadvantage playing at home. I'm embarrassed by a chunk of our supporters this year. They seem to have read the bookies hype and jumped back in to watch us walk the league. It's always good when you leave the match feeling unlucky with the late blow, only to read forum reports of barkers tactics being useless and the team being pathetic written by people sat in arm chairs somewhere.
actually......to all you doubters and non match attenders.......these lads played a blinder today, they were by far the better team and in no way deserved to come away with a point...............there is 90 mins in a game......it should have been finished off long before we get to added time......which also should never have been 4 mins......1 m in would have had most baulking as there were no incidents to warrant 4 mins! Taylor cold have netted on 90.....that would have been that.......but it didnt happen..........last week, i said we were crap......and we were, if I can find fault today it was merely we didnt push on and get the second to kill the game off.......going to added time and having played so well there is always the risk of a late goal.............its a shame. I would be very surprised if we dont see another striker coming in this week...........
The occasional loss of a winning position (or drawing position) in stoppage time is fair enough as those things happen but the fact is, this is happening far too often. The amount of points we've thrown away this season is ridiculous and clearly it's become so predictable that we'll throw away a game. Our fans know it, the opposition fans know it, the opposition players know it. Our record in the last ten minutes of a game is frankly pathetic considering these are meant to be professional footballers and I'm sick of seeing "GOAL (Opposition): 90 + 4. (Opposition player) scores from 20 yards." Of course my support won't waver and I'll still support Pompey no matter how rubbish we may be, but it doesn't mean I'll be happy. FYI, I just want to say that while I might be vocal here but I'd never complain or get on the players backs at Fratton Park (or any away venue) or boo any of our players or our manager, nor would I call on them to be sacked/dropped/substituted during a match
Ian Darke ‏@IanDarke 4h Incredible the number of ways Pompey find to break their fans hearts. Staggering number of pts lost in last 5-10 mins.
I just wish they wouldn't switch off in the final few moments - that is where arrogance comes in. At least I know we're going to get all three points against Accy
Believe you me..........I am as disappointed as any other PFC fan at not winning.......more so when on the balance of play we have deserved more......It has been incredible how many games we have thrown points on when under pressure in the last 10 mins............for me, we have to keep the ball more......possession is the key......we have the players now who individually are possibly some of the best in this league in terms of technical ability......collectively under barker they play with more confidence, but we have to learn to kill games off.........in modern football you cant sit back on a single goal........Peterborough scored twice in the last min today to win the game at orient......it happens in most leagues most weeks.
I've still got plenty of optimism. The team is starting to improve, we seem much tighter at the back. If we do get a new striker it could be the catalyst for a rise up the table.
I wish I had your optimism. We just don't have the defensive strength to go ultra defensive at only 1-0 up which by the sounds of it we did with 20 minutes or more left, everyone can see it so surely Barker can too. We need at least a two goal cushion before going ultra defensive as under pressure we wilt like a parched plant. It was the same thing under Guy but still.
The viewpoint from the opposition. http://www.westernmorningnews.co.uk...Portsmouth-1/story-20590623-detail/story.html Meowths optimism is spot on
We are playing well now on the whole and the only real thing holding us back is the crap intimidating atmosphere a large chunk of the fans are creating at fratton. I'm 28 and have been going to watch pompey since I was 5 years old and I can't remember a time when the fans have been as poor as they are now. Don't get me wrong we have seen some slack and lacklustre performances that have frustrated me as much as any one else but I really can't see how turning in to a bunch of whinging united fan wannabes is going to help matters. We have one of the largest gates outside the premier league and need to find a way to use that to our advantage. Early in the season 2 or 3 teams turned up and within half hour had completely frozen. Think it was morecambe, rochdale and one other. At the moment they are turning up and thriving on how easy it is to turn large sections of the home fans on their own team.
