I dont think we got out of third gear today as we had the game won. If by chance they had scored im sure we would have upped the tempo a touch and scored. we changed our players when we wanted and still controlled the game...

thanks dill, I am serious about us not helping our own while we can donate £20K+ to an english club.....what a kick in the teeth for llanelli and neath jacks who helped us when we nearly went out of business....

Not just that though Dai, I just can't stop thinking about lost revenue for both clubs since we got to the Premier League as I'm sure there are people out there that started watching us full time when in the past they may well have gone to watch games at the Gnoll or Stebonheath instead.

Got nothing against Exeter but I think we missed a trick because we could have loaned some promising youngsters to Neath or Llanelli and made it a win win for all concerned

Not just that Dilli - both Neath and Llanelli could have been 'feeder' teams for us - Tayl's came from the lower leagues and who knows how many grass roots players will now be lost due to the fact that Neath and Llanelli no longer have a semi pro football club. Think the gesture at Exeter was the right one, but it would have been in our interest to help Neath and Llanelli as well. But I would add that it is not our fault that those clubs went under - they were badly run, but think it would have been mutually beneficial if we had helped them - not just financially, but given them the benefit of our experience on a business level.

none of you were overly concerned when they signed OLeary and Trundle of us. And we did play friendlies against them and Port Talbot previously...and I very much doubt we took the gate money then, its just Exeter were gracious in making it public.

Can't disagree with any of that Swim! But just think we could have stepped in when they were in trouble - got no problem with giving gate receipts to Exeter, we are in a position to help other teams - and to us £20k is nothing (bloody hell - how far we have come!) - but to Neath and Llanelli that is a lot of money! Just think that it was short sighted not to help fellow Welsh clubs financially; they were in a position to develop players that could one day step up to the Swans level! We can raid the Spanish market, but having teams developing players at a domestic level is also vital! The demise of Llanelli and Neath is a missed opportunity! They could have developed the next stream of SCFC players!

Well said mate, couldn't have put it better myself, I've dropped a hint to Vetch some weeks back regarding his cutting and frosty approach, but you have put it well, just hope Dreyfus doesn't get put off, I enjoy his input!.........<ok>

The thing is Phil that I know Dreyfus like I know FFS and Never and I think it's that link that might be causing the animosity towards him.
I've argued cat and dog with Dai in the past but never ever has he even come close to dishing out anything like Dreyfus has received today.
To be fair Dai's posts have been top notch lately. I'll criticise the old bugger if I think he deserves it but I will also give credit where it's due too and right now he deserves credit.

The thing is people say about giving money to these clubs, but they were not solvent and the courts and inland revenue said that these companies were to much risk to continue. Even after Llanelli had paid some of their liabilities.

But if we bailed these clubs out, do you think we should have done the same for Casey's ? I mean there must have been Swans fans working for them, and it would have been only a couple of 100k, its okay we are earning millions.

And why stop there, Eddershaws has just closed down unfortunately and there was plenty of swans fans working there, we could have propped up the business as they were local.

The point I'm making is that both of these clubs were mismanaged, and giving them money would still mean they will be mismanaged , the same people in charge, if Tony Petty was running one of them would we give him money? And I'm not suggesting they were run by somebody like him.

The only way we'd give money is by owning both clubs, and that was probably not an option, I'm sure the FAW wouldn't endorse that.

Agree Jager, though Llanelli was run a tad better than Neath, but not by much, lets hope both clubs have learnt though I doubt it!.............<ok>
