I'm not up on the Exchange at all but I think there are 3 options:

Betfair
Betdaq
Matchbook

What I don't understand is how the odds can vary so dramatically between them. For example on the X Factor betting (sorry) Jay James is 80,75 and 45 respectively. Ignoring the subject (this is purely for illustration purposes), for anyone who wanted to back Jay James, why would they bet on either of the latter and how could one hope to lay on Matchbook?

Jay James X Factor @ 9a.m. 13/11/14
Best Back Odds Betfair 64 Euros available @ 80 (79/1)
Place 10 Euros JJ @ 80.....If He Wins returns = 790 - 5% Betfair Rake-off (-39.50) = +750.50
If he looses Your - 10
Lowest Lay odds Matchbook 12 Euros available @ 71 (70/1)
Lay 10 @ 71......If He wins You Loose -700
If He looses you win +10 - 1% Matchbook Rake-off (0.10) = +9.90
So if JJ Wins XFactor you win 750.50 on Betfair & Loose 700 on Matchbet. so overall profit of +50.50
If JJ Does not win Xfactor you loose 10 on Batfair & Win 9.90 on Matchbook so overall loss of 0.10
*NB.* To place these bets you will need 10 Euros in your Betfair Acc & 700 in Matchbook Acc
I hope this helps???? Good Luck!

The odds vary because of the liquidity of the markets, I am guessing (because I don't have a care about whatever you are talking about) that the three markets have very little money in them for the bets you are talking about. Therefore if people are not willing to lay the bets at big odds, the odds can vary wildly from site to site, but the amount of money you would be able to get on would be very limited.

It is all about supply and demand, if there is little demand then the supply has to be tempting (longer odds) but if the demand is greater you can reduce the odds as people will want to match your bet.

If you look at a market that has good liquidity on the three sites, you will probably see that the odds are similar.

I won't be betting on X Factor but it was the odds that intrigued me. Is there any software available that helps to find these no risk bet/lay opportunities. Would hate get one half of the bet on and miss out on the other.

Don't know of any software, but if I you can get on Hugh Taylor's (ATR) selections with the crookmakers @ advertised odds its easy to lay them for a few points less on Betfair. This works for a while until the crookmakers restrict your Stake to next to nowt :headbang:
Good Luck!
