Well thats it from me for today... Lets hope Bruce sorts it out and then we can be happy supporters! I'm not holding my breath but aslong as Bruce is the manager we can only hope that is does improve because as it stands today, we are far too close to relegation to be talking about having made permanent and significant progress. Short on defenders and strikers, no goal scoring centre midfielders... I'm not confident and I'm not confident for a number of reasons.

Although I don't agree with a lot of your arguments, I respect the fact that you put forward your case in a reasonable manner without the need to resort to petty insults..<ok>...Perhaps certain others on here could learn a thing or two from this...

I am not sure anybody hates SB, his decent good 'blokeness' is self evident, it would be good to have a couple of pints with him and hear his stories.
However he is employed at Sunderland Football Club, which has a long but not necessarily glorious tradition, as our football manager. By and large the team/squad as assembled is SBs and there are glaring problems in all positions, strikers(lack of them and quality), midfield, lack of speedy wingers (esp. on the left) and creative midfielders, we lack cover for CB and LB in particular and we cannot keep a goalie fit.
We have terrible trouble with injuries and hanging on to our best strikers.
We have trouble at times with team spirit and tactics and during a game the manager dithers when changes to formation or personnel are needed.

At times SB has recruited good players, unfortunately that just makes him a good scout not a manger, after all the experience as a player and as a manager if SB were any good it would have been there for all to see. Yet he passes blame for failure onto the players, onto injuries (my old father-in-law was in the Navy in the war and said everybody knew who was an unlucky captain and if you could you tried to stay off his ship, unfortunately SB is an unlucky Manager as to injuries and top strikers jumping ship etc.). Also apparently it is the fans fault for expecting too much, we at Sunderland should know our place, we get far too down cos' we lose to the skunks and that they are doing better with less money etc.

So yes SB has perhaps brought some stability, i.e. relegation is not always to be expected but as to moving us up the table we do not have a snowball chance in hell with this well below average manager.

Although I'm firmly behind our manager, I don't have a problem with the majority of those that want them out as I believe that they feel that they have the interests of the club at heart ...It's only the odd plank such as Newton Lee who lower the tone by throwing out pathetic insults and curses, and to be honest I don't think he has ever had a positive thing to say about Sunderland AFC in all the time he has been on here.

I just want SAFC to be all what it can be mate. I view it as part of my extended family and maybe like a first born, I can see so much potential but I can also see that potential wasted decade, after decade, after decade. It’s that continual waste of talent and opportunity that frustrates and hurts and leads to the anger at times. Maybe we will never amount to anything special? Maybe a manager of the limited ability of Bruce is all we are ever going to get and maybe at some time for my own good I should just stop going to games but the simple fact is I can’t. I love this football club. I want it to be successful and I want to show it off to the world but they keep disappointing and letting me down. Everytime I tell people this is it, we are on our way it just doesn't happen.

My old man told me something very prophetic some 30 odd years ago when I was embarking on my red & white adventure. He said that in time, I too would become disillusioned as he had many years before me and tire of the failure. At the time, I of course laughed and told him that it would be different for me. The past 36 years have been largely rubbish and some of the football grotesque. There have been some good times of course but I do feel that as I near 50 years old, my patience and willingness to put up with utter failure year on year is waning and my acceptance of ****ty feeble excuses from the clubs management, players and boardroom even less acceptable.

This season, should it just be another one of perpetual struggle and relegation avoidance, may well be the beginning of the end for me as a punter and the end of me putting myself through the regular weekly torture. The fun factor has long since gone for me and sometimes it’s just a case of blind loyalty keeping me going these days. Bruce has done nothing to ignite that fun factor and indeed has actually extinguished the last flames of hope I had for the club to actually amount to something.

Maybe it really is, like my old man, just my time to call it quits rather than get upset week after week as I seem to do all too regularly at the minute.

Nee bother marra...As I say, I have no problem at all about fellow fans having a different opinion to my own, but this Newton Lee chatacter hasn't got the brains to present an argument, and just reverts to throwing petty insults...

Because arguing with you is like arguing with a brick wall.

I have rarely heard you give any points as why Bruce is right man to take this club forward.

Put forward an argument instead of slating people who have a different opinion (without swearing because you're such an angel) and i'll treat you with respect.

How about the fact that our league placing has improved each season since Bruce has arrived...I'm sure that this should count for something eh! I have always said that Bruce has made many decisions which I have disagreed with, but on balance I feel that he deserves some credit...Also, I feel that he should be given time for him to let what is most certainly now his team to gel. It has been proved more often than not that a club which changes the manager too often usually suffers, and I think a period of stability and unity is just what we need right now.

I am convinced that newtonlee was on the 606 forum, and was generally known to be a WUM and eventually banned by the mods on 606.
