It's like banging your head against the wall isn't it? If O'Shea was bought as a CB, then who are the two dedicated left backs and dedicated right backs? Bardsley and Richardson for left back. Who for right back? Don't you see the problems here? O'Shea was brought in for RB, and Bardsley is expected to cover right back if O'Shea is injured, assuming Richardson is fit. The only other option is to play Elmo at RB but where is the cover for Larsson? The squad is unbalanced unless ofcourse it is all a figment of my imagination. Brown cannot cover for RB as we are now short of cover for CB... If Colback was utilsed then once again we are playing players out of position when we should have adequate cover. Who is cover for left wing? Richardson? He cannot do that in addition to LB when Bardsley is RB and Colback is nothing more than another player who would be placed out of their natural position. We are a premier league club... lets get some adequate cover in the squad for goodness sake...
Pie Dodger how in **** are we going to afford all these cover players our turn over ain't that great. We all no how much you hate Bruce so give it a rest. As to Newtonlee2 you nowt but a negative **** **** off and annoy someone else's board.
I don't hate Bruce at all. Perhaps you might produce a post where I say I hate Bruce? I'm assessing the situation as I see it and as far as cover is concerned, we already had it until Ferdinand was sold. We ALREADY HAD ADEQUATE COVER and someone chose to gamble with the squad for the sake of £4.5 million. Now we are seeing why that was yet another poor decision.... ontop of loaning out Gyan for which I've already made my assessment clear. Is this really the way the club expect to pack out the stadium? Perhaps we should spend the whole summer practicing a 4-6-0 formation, that will trick all the other managers for next season!
If you don't hate Bruce how many of your posts have had anything positive to say about him? As for Gyan would you really want someone who was so unhappy with playing for the club and clearly couldn't be arsed to play staying he's just the same as ****ing Judas.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing. We were offloading Ferdinand as he has never quite done it here, only the first 3 or 4 games of this season has he looked consistent, we got 4 million ish for him, and more importantly, we were selling him to put cash into the kitty to buy a new striker, but QPR/Us fannied on to long, Ferdinand went at the last minute, so we missed out on the striker. Bramble just does what Bramble does, got arrested on a night out and is charged, nowt Bruce could have done about that, we also bought Bramble for 1 million, how much do you think we could have sold him for, it wouldnt be enough to get that striker (whoever if was). Gyan, no idea what happened there, but if he did spit his dummy out because the Ghana players had left, then he wants a good head shake tbh, he has gone somewhere where there isnt any other players from Ghana, so i personally dont think its that, i just think he couldnt be arsed, so bye bye for me, no excuse in this day and age of a player coming back overweight, its their livelyhood, they get bloody good money, they should be fit all year round.
Here's something positive... I think Bruce has brought in some great players... there you go hows that for a start? However I also find it very difficult to ignore the increasingly clear picture whereby these great players don't stick around for long, perhaps its the geography? I also cannot help but to notice that the squad is unbalanced without adequate depth, once again. I also cannot help but to notice how poorly we played post January and most of the games this season too. I also cannot help but to notice that we have 10 points from 11 games. On a positive note, I thought we played well in our last two games, amazingly since we started to play 4-4-2. However if Wickham is injured we are walking a 4-4-2 tightrope and may well be watching 4-5-1 very soon. Let us agree that we hope Wickham is fit and well. As for Gyan, go and read what I posted once again because I've already answered your question. From the perspective of how the decision makers at the club were seemingly unable to determine that Gyan was a lazy **** as you choose to describe him before September, yet merely 10 days later were able to arrive at that assessment when they loaned him out to Al Ain, I find that difficult to believe. Could it be that Bruce had decided that he wanted to play 4-5-1 this season and therefore didn't feel the need to have four strikers? Who knows...
Perfect time to sell him, then? So the fact that QPR fannied on before the transfer window closed determined that we had to loan Gyan on September 10th? I mean, its not as if we shouldn't expect a club to 'fanny on' on transfer deadline day, is it? If you know so much yourself, who exactly was this mysterious striker we were going to sign with the 4 million from Ferdinand?
Did you read my post, i said whoever it was, so i dont know, but it was probably either Papa Demba Cisse or André-Pierre Gignac which would have cost us at least 10 million. Like someone else said, turnover is ****, and Short doesnt look like he wants to Bankroll the club, which is fair enough i suppose with the FFP rules that have just come into play, If i was a billionaire and was owner (obviously i am biased as hell as i support them) I would say here is a 100 million donation, go and get 7-10 top class players and lets push up the league, **** europe for now, and anyway we can still get in this year and next anyway, its just the 3rd year we may strugggle with the FFP but hopefully the extra revenue from being in Europe, will see us ok for that 3rd year. and 3-4 games doesnt make a player, he is likely to switch off at any time, and drop a clanger (same can be said for Bramble mind) but Ferdinand was on his last year of his contract, we got 4 million ish, which lets be honest, isnt to be sniffed at and at the time we had Bramble. also regarding the strikers, We do have Bendtner, Ji, Whickam, Noble who did get some 1st team action last year, Campbell ok injured for most of the season but we are still paying him and he is still on the books. and Gyan before the transfer window shut, that is 6 strikers we have, Ok a lot of younguns, but its still 6.
Bardsley and Oshea can both play RB, and so can Brown and Elmo (how good Elmo can play there is another argument). So we have good cover there. Bardo and Shea to compete for this spot. Ricco is Bruce's 1st choice LB. Bardsley can also cover there. LB spot is a weak on cover. After Ferdinand was sold: Turner, Bramble, Brown to compete for CB spot, but Oshea can also cover if needed. Bramble got himself in trouble, so only Turner, Brown and Oshea now (With the young Liang waiting in the wings). Oshea was bought in as a versatile player, who can play in multiple positions as and when required (unless injured...). Brown can also play in 2 positions.
the 4 million from Ferdi would have been part of the pot to buy a striker, but not the only cash we had/have. Gyan told Bruce he would stay, then changed his mind (or was lying to begin with). He didnt want to be here. give me one good reason why we should have kept him on, even though he wanted away? Yes we could have told him to stay, but what for? so we can have another player on the books, giving us a striking option, costing us wages but playing **** cos he was no longer motivated? why would we want that?
So infact your last post which proclaimed that we were hard done by in our quest for the mysterious fourth choice striker due to QPR 'fannying on' is nothing more than a hypothetical thought within your mind? As it stands, if Wickham is injured we have two strikers one of which hasn't even played one full game in the premier league. Noble could play but do you think he is premier league standard as we speak? Campbell... I hope he comes back fit sometime this season... but he ain't much use today. I can see it now... Bruce goes into the office on September 2nd the first day after the transfer window closes and says. "Hey man I think this Gyan is a fat lazy **** and it would be best for the fans and the club if we loaned him out immediately even though I'm not prepaired to play two of my strikers at the moment because they need to be protected. We need to loan Gyan with utmost haste. I do however apologise for being unable to see that Gyan was a fat lazy **** on August 20th as we could of brought in another striker before the transfer window closed". You gotta have a laugh, Stevie Bwoah is in town!
Its no use burying your head though mate. The club are in a pan ****e (1 point off relegation after only 11 games and now we have lost a third of our strikers in one go, leaving a good loan players and totally unproven Korean who up until last week wasnt good enough to get a game even when he was our joint top scorer for a few weeks? After 2 full years, we are no further forward imo under Bruce and are still only a few more bad results short again of sinking into a full blown relegation scrap. I accept that by the same token we are only few good ones from mid table but the demise of our form has been coming for over 10 months now and since February this year (almost a full calendar year) we have been absolutley hapless. If its not addressed or changed for the better (and the next 4 games surely are his last, last, last chance) then we will be haunted for the rest of this campaign, by the threat of Championship football next season. I cant believe there are still Bruce supporters actually never mind critics of those that want him out?
How is it hypothetical, it happened, Ferdinand didnt sign the contract will 10:50PM on transfer deadline day, even though he had been there all day, doesnt leave a lot of time to finish the striker deal does it. and like dan said the cash for him was to support a new striker deal, it wasnt a straight swap for cash like for like (4 million ferdinand/4 million striker).
It is hypothetical because there isn't ANY evidence to prove we were trying to sign another striker. There wasn't any bids made at any point of the day that were officially revealed to the media. The most logical assumption is to state that there wasn't any intention to spend the money on a fourth striker before the deadline window closed. If the club were that determined to sign this mythical fourth striker they would have went out and signed him irrespective of whether the Ferdinand deal was completed or not. Back in reality, Ferdinand was sold (our first choice CB and cover for LB and RB) and no official bids or signings were made. Bendtner was the replacment for Gyan, not an addition.
Well on transfer dedline day, Quinn was abroad and it was widely reported this was indeed the case. (whether it was true or not is a different matter entirely but it was reported) and the point is we couldnt, because our turnover is ****.
**** off you brainless twat you are so ****ing blind it's untrue stupid ****ing bastard how dare you tell us to **** off because we aren't happy with Bruce You **** off you un ambitious twat!
Demba Ba didn't cost a great deal for the mags... At the end of the day I suppose its all about having a manager that is capable of making the right choices. The debate continues...
