Probably not the best thread title, but couldnt think of anything else, and 3 weeks into this flu so thats my excuse. The point is, can you tell the style of play a manager will bring you, from where he played as a player. Some examples. SAF = Forward = primarily an attacking style of play. Bruce = Defender = primarily a defensive style MON = Midfielder = counter attack Arsene Wenger = Sweeper = passing style (sweepers need to be good passers) Kevin Keegan = Exciting forward = Entertainers/Exciting football if you are a toon fan Mancini = Forward but Italian = can play too defensive at times, as his Italian nature, but can play exiting attacking football as well, which is his striking nature. Sam Allardyce = no nonesense defender = hoof ball Pretty sure there will be others that blow this theory out the water, just wondering if you can tell what sort of football you will get, from the type of player the manager was.
Good point. I think as kids, we choose what position we want to play because of our natural personality - and that stays with us.
My money would be on Mancini actually being being under orders and told to stop playing so negatively! The money City have spent, they shouldn't be setting up to grind out results like they were.
Good thread this, and probably quite true... What about g\k......Chris Turner for ex....guess them teams are doomed.
