McCormack joins Liversedge as player and director of football.

Former Scotland international Ross McCormack has signed for Yorkshire-based Northern Premier League Division One East side Liversedge FC.

McCormack has joined the eighth-tier side, based in Cleckheaton, as a player and director of football ahead of the 2023/24 season.

Crikey, player DoF, is that a first????

Strange how he never got kept on by Bradford or Swindon after really successful spells at both... I recall his Swindon exploits, it seemed he was popping in goals almost every week for them...

Another in the long list of strikers that haven't made the grade at Ninian Park/the CCS....

I'm with Nin (at least I think it was Nin) in so far as I don't prescribe to you needing a 20+ goals a season striker to be successful but it's sure as hell fun when you do have one, especially if the rest of the team are weighing in with goals too (recall some of the crazy games/scorelines when Earnie had his record breaking season).
Problem is, all too often our misfiring strikers returns are so poor that it does impact the team massively..

Ho hum, good luck Doyle in whatever yo go on to.. he seemed like a decent chap as a person.

The need for a 20 goal a season striker for success is a myth. Whitts top scored with 23 (I think) a dozen years back and we didn't go up. Helguson top scored with 8 (I think) a couple of years later and we went up.

It would be nice to have a prolific scorer like Akpom or Gyokeres. They put their respective clubs in the mix but but neither went up last season. Goals from all over the park as a result of good team performances like Burnley is the route.

I noticed ex City stopper Mark Howard on the bench for Wrexham. Mind you he never got a game* according to Wikipedia and then went down west where he also is recorded as gameless before he found some game time in Scotland.
* Wrong as he played in the 0-2 league cup defeat to Barnet
