We're a pathway club for players and managers, got European football, and Emery was in the CL last season with Sevilla, so isn't a totally new experience that he needs to taste. Guess its unlikely, though, because he'd probably like a crack at learning from last time's mistakes.

No. Tadic didn't like how Koeman coached. The academy didn't like him either.
That's interesting. If not paid too much attention to the comments made in he past about that because all was hunky dory and we were heading up the league.
Tadic is currently our most talented and skilful player. He isn't consistent for sure, but it would be interesting to see what the new coach does with him. I'd be tempted to build the team around him. A gamble no doubt, but he is supremely talented.
I was mainly just messing with you FLT and I'm not going to claim it's the biggest problem in the world but over the last few seasons the club have made a number of statements along the lines of "We're confident X is going to sign a new contract" just before X has gone elsewhere. You have to admit the club have cocked up slightly when they feed an article to the press that says

I remember Koeman saying Alderweireld wanted to come to Southampton about 3 days before he signed for Spurs and we were also confident Clyne was going to sign a new contract not long before he left. You're right that the decisions and actions of the board are more important and generally speaking they're doing a very good job. This press stuff isn't that important but it must have an effect on how the public and other people in football or the press perceive the club. Not the end of the world - far from it - but the club have made the same "mistake" (for want of a better word) a few times now and it's something that can be improved. No harm in pointing that out.

Oh, without any doubt I'd have imagine. It just so happened that no-one did come in for Adkins.
It's the same for people who have said that Kelvin would never leave us. In a hypothetical world where we did make him manager, if he duly had success then too would leave us I suspect for a bigger job/more money etc.
As I've said over and over again, I really don't care about the circumstances over how someone leaves us. Whether we get rid of them, they get rid of us. They go with everyone's love and best wishes, or burning every bridge possible. All I care and see is that they've left, and my club is still to continue to support.
If it works though, we'll end up having to build a team around someone else next summer
Clyne: messed the club about. He bullshitted a little as well. He told the guy that trains him ( and had trained him for years) he was only on £10k a year . He also said he wanted to stay at Saints but they didn't want him. He then claims to only be in £30k a week at Liverpool. If he can bullshit like that to a guy he actually trained and had meals with ( for around 5years) what else did he lie about?
Alderweireld: The whole thing was just a mess. So I can't really blame the club that much.
Saints can only say what they think will happen. They can not read a players mind to see if they are making **** up. If the board said nothing people would moan anyways. At the end of the day Saints can only say what they feel at the time. It won't always be correct as things change.
Koeman: according to various journo's Koeman's old agent was the close to getting Koeman to sign a new deal. But then Koeman changed agents and suddenly joins Everton. If that doesn't tell you something nothing will.

Each one can be explained away on its own but as the old saying goes "Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me."
If I was Les (or whoever) I'd tone down the positivity just a touch. He'd be completely justified in saying something like "We've made X an offer that we think is fair/generous and we'd like X to stay. I don't want to say any more than that at this point because obviously we've been in similar situations in the past and things haven't worked out as we hoped." It's only the in house media people he's talking to so it's not like he's going to face a barrage of tough follow up questions.

Yes, but it's kind of the point - he wasn't exactly in demand, or being asked by the media questions about his future every time certain jobs came available. Had he been, and had he finished top 6, we might have found out. All the managers who had done well (Rodgers at Swansea, Lambert at Norwich) proved their mettle at the end of that season and jumped ship at the first offer.
May be true, but that journalist isn't very reliable. All this sensationalist and cliched stuff about every player wanting to leave. No foundation whatsoever.

And he would still get moaned at by some, that is my point. He may not get moaned at by you and Schad, but some one else will step up for " not being positive enough" or something close to that. It's why I see it as Damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. I would rather have a open board then one that doesn't tell the press anything. I just find it a trival thing to moan about.
