If this is happening, as looks likely, I'm going to feel really, really let down and disapointed by Ron.

It's not about money? Well, clearly it is. Going to see out your final year? That worked out well.

Sorry Ron, but if you've gone to Everton, I've lost a hell of a lot of respect for you - as I do anyone who goes back on their word.

Seeing out the final year makes absolutely no sense for our club or for Ron. If the options were 'stay one year'/'leave now' (and he never gave his word to extend his deal), I'm glad he took the option that doesn't leave us in limbo for a season.

This is my way of thinking. Best not to have him lingering, eyeing the door and having day-to-day contact and presence with everyone at the club in the meantime, with players slacking off or resting on their laurels because they know Ronald is off soon.

It's a bit like the rebellious child thinking they can get away with pissing a step-parent around because they're not the biological parent. It's about potential undermining. That's the analogy I'm plumping for, anyway.

I think it is much more likely it was a case of sign an extension or we will look to replace you...in nicer words............and maybe a hint of (with someone who looks more favourably upon our youngsters.)

As far as I understand, it's pretty much this. Obviously the Everton offer makes it more straightforward but Saints have a new five-year plan after consultation with KL and the new sponsorship deals coming in, plus the TV money boost.

They want someone to take that on and Ronald seemed to be wavering.

I'd liken it more to a relationship that ends more or less amicably when both parties realize that, while they are happy together, they want different things while will ultimately spell the end of the relationship. They want to settle down and raise a family; you want to train an army of lowland gorillas and take over Denmark. Alas, it is not meant to be.

Ha, love that last bit! Much better analogy.

If this is the end between us, and Ron goes up there, Everton FC, and their ownership group should be ashamed of themselves! How many times has Koeman said No. But just like a child, who don't get their way, they have just whined, and whined, until they get what they want!!!!
Hopefully RK stays, and this all becomes a bad dream.

How could they sack him after the season you'd just had?

There'd have been an absolute meltdown in the fanbase and he'd have rinsed you via the LMA.

The threat would have always been hollow imo.

Ashamed of being determined to land their first choice?

Ok mate x

??? Remember Adkins? After the 2 seasons he had just had?

If we offered Koeman an extension and he turned it down then I am pretty sure the fans would (will) understand that the board want someone in that continues our advance next season.

Sorry mate. But if RK does go there, then I hope it all comes crashing down! Money has ruined the game, ever since the champions league game into fruition.if he honed his contract, then I would wish him all the best. What a disgusting end, to all this saga!
