Tobes - nobody had attacked you this morning. We're just trying to point out that this situation may have different scenarios.

Good job I'm not sensitive at being called "naive" eh? I think that's the only slight on anyone's person in all the posts this morning... and it wasn't taken as one.
.
I know mate, there was nothing wrong here at all today, I think the other lad was maybe referring back to the other day, when I did get lynched for nowt in fairness. But I'm not arsed anyway, it comes with the territory and I always take it with a smile. <ok>

I did concede that was a possibility and I didn't think you were having a pop.

Albeit, you can never take public utterances as being entrenched positions. The 'no' spoken weeks ago was probably before contact was made. These situations are always fluid mate. It is what it is, but the outcome in this case is that he's being good to his word, so happy days for Soton. <ok>

Agreed.. 10 days though so not "weeks".

You should follow Koeman over the next few years. He does genuinely say what he means and I'm sure he'll carry on with that over the next couple of jobs.

I'm the first to "Lynch" opposing fans if I think they are winding up a bit too much. I thought you were the other day, but certainly not today. This morning has been a good debate on what may or may not have happened.

Some Saints fans find it odd that a Saints fan may defend the positive position of our club on our own board. I find that strange they do that, but hey ho!

For the record mate, I wasn't trying to wind anyone up here at all, and apologies if it ever came across that way.

I'm not an 'ITK' either btw, but I know a fella who's got a decent 'in' at Goodison since the changing of the guard there, and he's someone I trust implicitly, hence the reason I've posted a bit about the managerial recruitment process in the last few weeks.

It really isn't that hard to see both sides to this is it? I mean:

Reasons Ron goes to Everton: Bigger club, more money in salary, supposed bigger transfer budget

Reasons Ron doesn't go to Everton: Rebuilding job that he has done before, could wait a year and have a shot at really big job, seems settled at Saints for the next year anyway.

Just asked my mate about this. He's not sure where Cross is getting his info, as this is old news as far as he's concerned. Nothing has changed in relation to Koeman since he declined to be considered further last Tuesday, the fact that we were prepared to pay a lot more than Southampton was already made clear.

You're just experiencing the special relationship Saints have with the newsmedia, by being on the other end of it. Undermine the club as much as possible, and when that gets batted away have another dig at them to sell a few newspapers. It's why Saints fans justifiably feel a little more persecuted than other supporters. ;)

Oh, for the lovely safe days...when no one wanted any of our players:rolleyes:

I can barely remember a time, in my entire Saints supporting life, when that was the case. Perhaps when we were surviving in the Championship with the likes of Stern John and Iñigo Idiakez.? Nope. The vultures were circling even then. ;)

Truthfully, there hasn't been a single season, as far as I can remember, when Saints weren't having to fend off another club trying to raid them for players.

In a wee search for Saints players of the Stern John era I stumbled across a pretty good highlights video of the Sheff Utd match where Saints stayed up on the last day. Thought people might like to watch it. Saganowski, Surman, Twatcheeks, John, Safri, etc.., all playing in the same team. With Billy Sharp in the opposing side:

Vultures scavenge old half-dead corpses that some other animal probably enjoyed in the past but had since walked away from. So yeah you're right.

I'm always wary of opposing fans visiting, because, in my experience of other forums, they are all too frequently on the wind up.
I used to visit the Saints Mad forum, on a daily basis, but became disappointed at the, IMO, too liberal way the mods ran it.
Some Pompey fans had more posts on there than many Saints fans, including one who was allowed to get away with calling Markus Liebherr "that dead nazi", on an almost daily basis.
The mods allowed it as "banter", would you believe.
Looks like they have lost a lot of followers now, as on my last look at the board it was tumbleweed.

You'd think not. I did get shot down though when trying to present the view that it would be understandable if Ron considered Everton

Great stuff. Is that the game when Beattie was at Sheff Utd but had an "injury" for that game?
