Mmmm you can't just compare numbers without considering relevant values and incomes of the day.

But as I understand it, it was the win bonuses which sank the club. The chief financial officer was reputed to know that the club was bust the moment that they won the FA cup. In any case, surely you cannot compare the two clubs approach to financial prudence and the point is that most of us "deckchairs" don't support our board spending wildly as we have our own painful experience of that.
Btw, Good to see you on our board again, Meowth- twat or not! <laugh>

I guess that's true. So what we didn't spend would be an even bigger zero than 10 years ago.

It must have existed at some point - just became a bit harder to recognise as money after it had been through so many launderettes! (allegedly):emoticon-0136-giggl

I wish you'd been around to poach Koeman with some of that zero :)

FLT, unless I'm mistaken, I think AshbySaint is defending the Board, tbf. I think his stance is that you were apparently unfairly criticising them.

    I'll butt out now. ;)

Everton actually have the most deluded fans in the premier league. I can't believe the drivel I'm reading on Twitter. Absolutely mind-boggling. Their fans seem to be picking a fight about being a bigger club than us.

They are a bigger club which is why the situation they are in should be of a huge embarrassment to them. It makes them a joke. A bigger joke! :)

Have to copy little old Southampton. Although to be fair maybe they are copying Liverpool who are a bigger club than them. They saw them copy us and copied them, copying us <laugh>

Hi CF for what it's worth I think you are better off without him. He had the worst knowledge of English of any Dutchman apart from Van Gerwen.

Maybe Eddie Howe would be the best bet considering what he's achieved.

It must be difficult to flourish in the shadow of a big club. Be even more difficult with the bigger stand across Stanley Park blocking out the light!

Everybody KNOWS we've been more successful than Everton in the last two seasons. We're having the better time of it recently. We are better placed and set up for success also.

EDIT: Either I'm suffering some of the software hang-ups that FLT has been going on about, or while I've been tidying up the threads, I've had a few untidy bits seeping in my posts. Either way, it's annoying.

Its not always about money..He as more money than he will be able to spend anyway so i cant see it being that.....Fans use that excuse far to much and it is never the case......something between koeman and the club that Koeman is not happy with and 9 times out of 10 is the board selling his best players when he dont want them too.....remember the club cashed in last season which pissed Koeman off and he used his management skill to bring replacements in and did reasonable well. He can see the board members cashing in again ruining yet again his plans, So he may have had enough and was not going to waste his time anymore and more than likely made it known to Everton he is interested......money dont come into it.....

I don't think he is. I didn't criticise them but because if this "thing" it made it look like it was my quote moaning about them; it wasn't, it was AshbySaint who called them delusional. I find that quite incredible.

He has since carried that on after I checked with him it was his quote. He is saying that because MP, Toby and RK left after the board said things were progressing, that they are delusional. Ridiculous statement to make.

They're doing a bloody good job amongst all the dishonourables.

That may have been a fair comment before he had said no to Everton and then yes when the money was flashed.

With all due respect mate, you've come in to this way beyond the eleventh hour. You're a Swansea fan, so I doubt that you've listened to every Saints press conference for the last 24 months and how many times the man said he will honour his contract. Scroll back a page or two and there is a quote from him in March saying he won't be one of those that goes for the money. He'd virtually agreed a deal and then came along a more than double your money deal.

Please don't come in here half cocked with info and try and tell us "that's what all fans say"

    He left for the money!

Yes, but I don't want Howe. He's a good manager, but there are two issues; first I think we can get someone with a better consistent record. I like him but he is not proven at the top end of the table.
The second issue is that if we try to sign him, that will cement yet more grief between the fans. My wife got caught up on some trouble when the B'mouth fans visited. We have enough of that nonsense with Pompey and I could do without it. No, please let us choose someone else.
