When we signed Woodgate I thought that was the final piece missing in the jigsaw for silverware, I even thought he might have been as bigger signing as shearer.
For me the best cb we have had in my lifetime, I remember in the Uefa cup we played marseille and drogba had that amazing season, the first leg Woody kept him at bay but return leg he was out and drogba ruined us

Such a shame as he had he potential
To be massive, when speaking to Leeds fans they always said we got the better cb out of him and rio

Bells was class and looking back I wish he stayed for longer, little **** but gave 100% actual class act

I voted Beller's, but reading all the posts.. I had kinda forgotten just how good Woodgate was ...still Beller's though.

He was a 'wee gooby git' but he was our 'wee gobby git'

Hate the ****er but Bellamy was the better player for the club. Him and Shearer were a great combo. Woodgate was only here briefly. Very injury prone but class act when we got him on the field. Still hope Bellers ends up with lifelong gonorrhoea for his comments about the club and fans after he left :D

Absolutely. My threads are always open to some Mod mutilation <cheers>

    The rules for the poll-
    1. You cannot compare players from the same position. Eg Goalkeeper vs Goalkeeper, Defender vs Defender, Midfielder vs Midfielder etc etc
    2. They must be ex-players of Newcastle NUFC, but still playing football at present.
    3. The question must be explicitly either; who was better for us? or who was the better player?

    Special Legends Edition Rules
    1. You cannot compare players from same position as before
    2. They must be former NUFC players, but can be from different generations and do no have to be playing today or even alive.
    3. The question must be explicitly either; who was better for us? or who was the better player?

    Non-Geordie Legends Edition Rules
    1. You cannot compare players from same position as before
    2. They must not have played for NUFC at anytime during their career. Ie, you could have Zidane vs Pele, Messi vs Schemichael etc.
    3. The question must be explicitly either; who would you rather have in today's team?, who would have been better for us back in their day? or who was the better player overall?
