Just as long as Richard Murray isn't involved in choosing whoever that would be...............................
Villas-Boas proved at Spurs that having money to spend is one thing, but spending it wisely is another. Powell and his staff spent the latter half of the 10/11 season scouting the players that would win us League 1, and they got the right ones. The team gelled right from the opening game and we were comfortably the best team in the league. Obviously the Jenkinson sale was important, but you omit that we also let Semedo, Racon, McCormack and others go, i.e. we let worse ones go to make way for better ones. Powell brought back a winning culture to Charlton which we hadn't seen for a long time. I don't think anyone's ever said that the negative tactics and baffling substitutions aren't Powell's fault. I have criticised him for it on various occasions. Signings of poor players are kind of inevitable when there's so little money to spend. That's not Powell's fault. When we have to make do with free transfers from Coventry City (Wood) I think it's to be expected that we are where we are in the league.
Of course we'd all be happy if the team started a winning run and took us to mid table..............Wouldn't we?
Seriously, when is this agenda going to stop? Every time i finally think to myself that enough time has passed for you to have something else to talk about, i return and see the same stuff again that you were posting months ago. You seem like a nice enough chap Vol but i hardly ever bother looking on here anymore because of your posts, that are always the same recycled opinion that is easily argued against and it has become unbelievable. We get it, you do not like SCP, can you please stop banging on about it? It got ridiculous ages ago
Pity if you leave this forum Jimmy, you and V-a-v are both top Charlton fans, and top posters too in your differing ways. I have concerns about aspects of Sir Chris' management, but it's up to Roland to back or sack him.
What "agenda"? It is a forum - a place for fans to come together and swap opinions. You don't have to sign an oath in blood. I drove up to Sheff Wed on Saturday (nearly). With respect, I will say what a bloody well want!
Agree. Certain things CP has done in recent months deserve to be called out. He still has my support, but there is no denying he needs to work on aspects of his skill set to try and get us away from the bottom 3. Finding a new formation to suit our current midfield has to be the first. We can't carry on with 4 central midfielders playing. Interestingly, I saw an interview with Astrid where he said he actually prefers sitting in the middle looking for key passes. From what we've seen, that seems the better option to playing him out wide.
Have to agree with the above Jimmy. While I certainly want you to keep posting, Vol-au-vent can keep complaining about Powell on a football fórum if he feels the need, and to be honest, Powell is by no means above complaint, as some of his decisions on player positions and formations would drive a man to strong drink. I don't see that a failed trip to Sheffield gives him special powers to contribute, as I never had any intention of going and I still maintain my right to write things, but he can do his anti Powell stuff anyway in my book. If it really winds you up, why not just ignore him?
You can say what you want Vol, but do you really need to do it every other thread? Every time i come on, you have started several more threads about how Powell needs to go, i have seen other users hounded for this sort of thing in the past, and i know i am not the only one who finds it exceptionally annoying and disruptive to see so many threads that are all the same thing. Can you not just start a thread that you update every day or two with yet more reasons everything is the fault of Chris Powell instead of spamming the board with thread after thread of the same thing? I have tried saying nicely in the past that it is a bit excessive, and it just doesn't stop. I have no issue with differing opinions, if everyone agreed life would be boring and a discussion thread would be utterly pointless. The forum used to be a place for a wide set of topics, a bit of fun, and chat amongst fans that even saw fans of other clubs popping over for a bit of banter and general football chat, now all i ever see is petty whinging between people and it always seem to stem from yet another Powell out post. Can we not change the subject once in a while? Or am i going to get everyone thinking i am a nasty so and so for just wanting to read about something else for a change?
